Morning Bright And Windless

White Coat Ceremony

A Happy Marisa With Her Family

Yesterday was a big day for our granddaughter Marisa, who received her White Coat from the University of Texas Medical School, the first step towards becoming a doctor.

6:52

It's 7:53, and I was up just before 7:00 and went out for a 35-minute paddle, shooting a couple of herons, no osprey or eagles. I have to go back to Finns because there's a rattle coming from my new muffler. What a way to start the day.

Got An Itch

Perched On A Dock

Yesterday was built around my doctor's appointment in Jamestown for my cough. And of course, I hardly coughed during the morning and certainly not in the doctor's office. Anyways, I got in a good paddle, the lake mornings are recently perfect for kayaking,  I finished up the blog after my paddle and wasted the morning until I had to leave for Jamestown at 11:00. I saw a PA and she was fine but there's no solution to my cough, maybe post-nasal drip so she prescribed a nose spray. I was wondering if it might have been the smoke from Canada, which my neighbor mentioned had led to her cough. So I was in and out in ten minutes and then shopped at Wegmans for a few things for the weekend. I am going to try to avoid lactose for the next week at the suggestion of my gastroenterologist,  so I ended up buying lactose-free milk and ice cream as well as coconut yogurt.

I didn't get home until 12:30, and because I was not very hungry, I had two slices of bread with peanut butter and jelly and watched my show. While I was gone, Evie put together a cauliflower and garbanzo bean soup in the slow cooker, and it filled the house with an unpleasant odor, a result of the cauliflower. When our neighbors' boys came over to play, they walked through the house holding their noses, although when it was time to make "piggies" they forgot about the smell.  I took another good nap and am still reading my novel, These Summer Storms, which I have mixed feeling about. After my nap, I sat out on the dock and read until it was wine time and the boys had left. We sat out for a good hour since our neighbors, Missy and John stopped over, bringing some veggies from their garden. It was fun to talk with them because they are usually busy with friends and family. Missy stayed until 7:00 when Evie dished out the soup, made a salad and heated up some rolls. The soup was different, not my favorite, but worth making again. We watched two episodes of The Resident, when Evie went to bed, and I watched my shows.
