A Wet, Overcast Morning

Southern Sky At 7:08

6:42
My wake up time seems to be  creeping backward, as today it was 5:30 despite  going to bed at the same time.  I don't like much getting up in darkness for an hour and a half before I see a glimpse of light like now, at 7:00.  Evie's up too, so both of us are up way to early.

The King Of  Big Breakfasts
We spent yesterday morning in Euclid, with my sisters and their husbands.  Rich made his usual big breakfast for us, bacon, eggs, home fries, English muffins and melon.  Surprisingly, despite last nights clambake, everyone was hungry.

We all went for a walk on an uncomfortable warm fall day, to their son Pat's house, to look at their new patio and garden, then along the shore of Lake Erie to the Arcadia Beach Club, an area where my grandparents lived, so I knew it well as a kid, often going to their house every Sunday for a prime rib dinner, great memories actually.  We then sat on their deck for an hour, enjoying the sun, the view of Lake Erie.

About 1:00, we said our thank yous and good byes and drove to Chagrin Boulevard, to take advantage of our drive to Euclid, and pick up lots of goodies from the new Trader Joe's, bigger and more parking than the old one.  It was as crowded as I have ever seen a Trader Joe's, with cashiers at every cash register, and lines of people at all of them.  We picked up our favorites, cheeses, wine, sauces, etc, and walked out much poorer than when we went in...but everything was a deal!

We then drove home to the lake,  stopping at Love's at the Ohio border/line,  getting gas and a soft drink, then fighting through a heavy downpour just as we reached the New York State line. We were home around 4:30, quickly emptied our car of groceries.  Our neighbor then drove over and picked up all the dishes, quilts, pots and pans, etc, that we were donating to Journey's End to help support Syrian immigrants who were arriving Buffalo to be resettled.  Our neighbors are very involved in the group responsible for making sure they are welcomed.

We put everything away quickly, pulled out dinner, left over macaroni and beef casserole, then settled down on our outdoor porch (warmer than our house) and enjoyed some wine and cheese, the quickly changing view, as threatening skies moved in.

Dusk
We had salad and leftovers for dinner, watched some junk TV, then Bill Maher before going to bed early, as we were both very tired from our great weekend.  For some reason, I as still able to read my book even though the library said my load had expired.  I have 10% left so I may be able to finish it.
