A Frigid Morning, With Clear Skies, A Brilliant Sunrise

I was up at 6:30, wondering if it snowed last night as predicted.  It did not.  The temperature, however, did fall, as it's 13º at the moment.  Listening to NPR, it looks as though we missed the brunt of a heavy storm.  Suburbs south of Buffalo received two to three feet of snow, and there's a driving ban in some areas, and Interstate 90 is closed from Buffalo to Rochester. We are 75 miles south and west and have no snow yet but it's supposedly coming later this morning.  And it looks like no kayaking today as the edges of the lake have frozen over, as early as we can remember, alas.

Kayaking Sunday,  Among The Reeds,
Yesterday was an unattractive day, too warm for snow, just sloppy snow flakes, slush on the roads, a chilly dampness to the 30º temperatures.  I figured few people would go to yoga because of the wet roads, the snow, but yoga was packed with ladies and of course, moi. Class was good, lots of work on stretching and strengthening the back, just what I needed.  After class, I stopped at Ryders for a coffee, then drove to Wegman's, to stock up on food for the next three days, assuming that we would be snowbound for a day or two.  I bought a pot roast that we'll have with vegetables and mashed potatoes.  It sounded like just the cure to the early winter weather, something to look forward to for tonight.  I also stopped at the Keystone garage to check on my Accord but they were busy, had not gotten to it yet. Let's hope they get to it today.

Homemade pizza and vegetable soup for lunch, one of the advantages of making more than enough for dinner.  Evie was busy in the kitchen much of the morning and started packing for our trip later in the week.  We took it easy much of the  afternoon but I drove off to the Mayville Library to pick up a CD of John Cheever short stories for our drive.  Around 4:30, I took a short pick me up walk along the Victoria front yards as far as I could go,  then walked up to Victoria Road and home.  It was dark when I returned, just in time for a nice glass of sauvignon blanc with Evie.

Dinner was one of our favorites, chicken piccata with rice, roasted butternut squash and salad, and it was better than ever this time, or maybe the both of us were just hungry.  We caught up on The Affair, only three shaggings this time, then watched Real Time with Bill Maher before going to bed.
