Sunny Scottsdale to Kansas City

Dad's Garage Workshop
It's just 6:00 and I have been up since 5:00, a beautiful morning here, my last till next year as we fly off to Kansas City mid morning.  It's so quiet here, mostly birds, an occasional car, as the quails and doves scour the yard for food.  Dorothy threw the watermelon rinds in the yard last night and they are being picked clean by the birds.  I am surprised they don't attract rodents but I  guess the birds get to them first.

I cooked various sausages last night on the grill, along with asparagus, peppers and onions and it was quite a good dinner.  I am amazed at how much Dad eats, he literally gobbles up everything in sight, rarely talking until he is finished eating.  Then, he begins to regale us with stories that come to mind about what ever we are talking about.  I would like to know how our conversation triggers a story in his mind, as there is not always a clear connection.  But his memory is amazing for the past, pretty good for the present.  He was a bit discouraged yesterday as the lamp  he put together with my help worked one day but stopped working yesterday, so all the wiring he did will have to be checked, something he was not to excited about.

Laura's up and coming out to have coffee with me, so I will close up for now.  Off to the airport at 8:00, fly out at 10:35, arrive in KC at 3:10.

An easy flight, as we arrived on time, about 3:15.  Evie fortunately sat next to an interesting couple, so her trip went very easily.  He was a doctor very interested in health, especially healthy eating.  He believes in avoiding most if not all carbs, sugar, and eating mostly protein, meat and veggies basically but no fruit.  He is convinced that much of the hype about high cholesterol comes from the drug companies who benefit from the sales.  It actually is much like a health book we bought recently called The Four Hour Body by Tim Ferriss. Most of his ideas are backed up with loads of scientific data, much of it experiments that he, himself, participated in.  Both are believers in protein, no carbs or sugar, extremes like that.  We are off to Marlena's softball game.
