I woke to sunshine and blue skies, quite a contrast to yesterday's clouds, rain, and thunder. It's a cool 37º on this Easter morning and may get up to the 50s later in the day, good for a hike or bike ride. It was a great morning to be on the lake, lots of sun and blue skies as I chased off one group of buffeheads after another,

Paddling Home |
Yesterday was miserable, with rain on and off most of the day and overcast. I was fortunate to get in a short paddle in between the showers, so that made me happy. Like most Saturdays, we were in no hurry to get going because I did not have yoga and it was raining out so I couldn't bike or hike. Around 10:30, we started gathering the trash and cleaning out the refrigerator before I drove to the Transfer Station to get rid of it and then to Hogans to fill up my Outback with gas, fifty bucks worth.
I was home by 11:30 with nothing to do, at least I felt that way because of the weather. Evie, however, was busy with the usual, catching up on the wash and finishing up the photo book from last summer. Each summer for the past 15 years, she has put together a photo book of our kids visit to the lake. At first, it was photographs in an album, but the last seven or eight years it was a book of photos from Shutterfly. It takes lots of time to find the digital photos, arrange them, and then finally send them off to Shutterfly. They are great memories of a special week with our family and the grandkids especially love looking back at themselves when they were infants or teenagers.
For lunch, I had the leftover hoagie and watched the beginning of an NBA playoff game. For the most part, I get bored after 15 minutes or so. I then started a new series, Entrapped, set in Sweden, and may or may not stick with it. I have started a new George Pelecanos novel, The Man Who Came Uptown, even though I read it a few years ago. It's that good. I napped, of course, and read much of the afternoon, wishing I was doing something outside. I watched the last quarter of the Denver/LA game, and it was exciting, eventually won by Denver in overtime. By wine time, Evie finished the album, and we went through it together to make sure there were no duplicates.
We did not feel like fussing for dinner, so Evie heated up the leftover pasta with mushrooms and eggplant, made a salad and we had dinner. We watched the first two episodes of a new series on Apple TV with Jon Hamm called Your Friends And Neighbors, and we liked it. We treated ourselves to a bowl of ice cream with chocolate sauce and pineapple chunks before Evie went up to bed. I watched some of the Lakers game, which they eventually lost.
