Just Another Boring Day At The Lake

7:16 Sunshine Flooding Our Dining Room
Up at 5:45, back to my routine of getting up early.  And I was shocked to hear a boat putting by,  a bright light on its bow.  It cruised north, then back to Tom's Point, than along the shoreline before stopping by the reeds.  I assume it was a duck hunter but I cannot be sure.  It sure was bizarre.  It's now 7:09 and the sun just rose; I assume it will rise tomorrow no matter who gets elected so I should just chill out and relax.  It looks like another stellar fall morning, with rain arriving late afternoon or early evening so we better wring as much out of today's sunshine as we can.

Yesterday began with yoga despite my reservations.  I should have hiked somewhere because it was such a wonderful fall day.  But I stuck to my routine as did twenty two others and we wrenched out backs in numerous ways until I had to just say enough and relaxed.  I did stop for a coffee, then robbed the bank before coming home.  I assumed Evie would be working in the yard, weeding and planting.  Wrong.  She was still in her pajamas, enjoying the morning, doing wash and lounging around.  Maybe she's getting more like me, enjoying doing nothing or little unless it absolutely needs to be done.  I must have sparked something in her because soon both of us were in the yard, weeding, planting, trimming, working up a sweat.  It felt good actually to be out working on such a nice day. After an hour, I went in for lunch, a PB & J sandwich and soup, canned this time. Then I read some, watched the pundits predict a prediction, briefly napped then went back outside to join Evie as we finished up most of our yard chores.  I ended the day with two more barrels of weeds and stuff to take up the hill.

Evie In Erie At Night
Around 4:30, we drove to Erie, PA, because we are still in the need of a new oven.  We thought we knew which one we wanted but the local Home Depot did not have it on its floor.  So Evie called Best Buy, asked them if they had the model on the floor and the salesmen looked and said they did.  So we first stopped at Best Buy, only to find that they did not have the model we wanted...either they lied or are incompetent.  So we went to HH Gregg and they had what we thought was our oven but it was the gas model. The salesmen was great, tried to find out if they had electric version, found they had one in Ohio but we were not ready to buy it.  But we appreciated his helpfulness.  We then stopped at Home Depot, found out that they did not have a floor model but they did have the oven we wanted in stock and it was a couple hundred dollars less than we thought.  He advised us to order it back at our Home Depot in New York so that's what we will do later today and that will be the end of our oven quest.

Another Night With Tony
We then drove to Findlay Lake, to have a beer and pizza at Brigadoon's, a new restaurant but it was closed.  I had checked its website earlier in the day and they said they were open all day.  Wrong.  So we drove another couple of miles to Pine Junction, which we had been to a week ago.  We sat down at the bar, ordered a beer and a guy walked up and sat down next to us as if we knew him.  And we did.  A couple of months ago we had been sitting at the bar and struck up a conversation with him, learned all about his life, that he was from Edinboro, and worked in the area traveling quite a bit.  He was a good guy and had recommended we visit Brigadoons.  So we were happy to see him and we talked with him all through our dinner, learning all about it very successful kids, graduates or about to graduate from Michigan.  He, of course, loves the Michigan football team and its coach, John Harbaugh, so we had lots to talk about.  We stayed until 8:00, bid him adieu and we would look forward to seeing him the next time we hit Pine Junction.  By the way, Evie had a great sandwich, the CJ, a chicken breast with a spicy hot sauce, mozzarella, and bacon.  She loved it.

Bar TV
We drove home in the dark of course, on a surprisingly busy #86.  We then channel surfed and watched most of the Hillary rally in Philadelphia.  It was an amazing rally, with Bruce Springsteen leading the way for Michelle Obama, then Barack, and finally Hillary.  It reminded both of us of Grant Park in 2008 when Obama won the election.  I had enough by 10:00 and went up to read but Evie marshalled on for another hour before coming up to sleep .
