A gray, wet and depressing morning here at the lake which seems appropriate. I was awakened at my usual time, 6:00 by a heavy rain on the roof. And at the moment, the rain, the gray, I can see a small fishing boat floating off of Long Point...now that's dedication. It's a toasty 47º, a morning of an occasional distant gun shot (duck hunters) and a good day to hunker down inside and read a book.

Yesterday was a bit different from most other days. I did not go to yoga because we had things to do. So around 10:00 after a morning of reading and coffee drinking, we began our quest for a new oven and microwave at Home Depot. We had a good idea what we wanted which made our decision much easier. We were unsure of a microwave but a salesperson showed us one that matched our oven so we quickly decided to go with it and that was it. We sat down, added up the numbers, including a fee for taking away the old stove, putting in the new microwave, and all we had to do was slide a card and we will have a new oven and microwave by Friday. We also did some shopping, picking up some mulch for around our trees, a glass, solar penguin on a pole and some half price tulip bulbs. We then went to Wegman's, picked up some sushi for lunch, chips and dip for later in the day and were off, then, to look at more bushes and trees at Art Samples. He's an interesting guy, loves to talk trees but we ended up not buying anything because we were on a quest for a tree we like, an umbrella pine, but he did not have any in stock. It's a soft needle columnar tree.
We then drove home, and I had easy lunch, lentil soup and sushi and watched some TV. We spent the rest of the afternoon like always, either reading, working in the kitchen or watching something on TV. It was a cloudy afternoon, much different from the morning and it looked like rain. While Evie prepped our dinner of pork schnitzel, parsley potatoes and brussel sprouts, I went out and spread the mulch. And because the leaves were so thick on our neighbors yard, I quickly mulched their leaves because there are still many to come.
We then relaxed with wine and chips and dip and listened to the radio as we usually do before dinner. About 6:00, Evie fried up the schnitzel, braised the brussel sprouts, made a salad, and parsleyed the potatoes and we had one of our favorite dinners. I know, we have a lot of favorite dinners. We then channel surfed the rest of the evening or surfed the Internet. I had enough by 10:00 and went up to bed to read. Evie stayed up for a bit and finally came to bed later than usual. And so ended a typical day here at the lake, a day like any other!
