Blue Skies, Nothing But Light Blue Skies

Yesterday Morning at 8:30
Up at 6:20 as the sky was just becoming visible, light blue with an orange glow along the horizon.  It's chilly, 32º and when I walked outside, I could see frost on the windshields.  It looks like three or four days of sunshine and chilly weather, the kind we love.  Better enjoy the sunshine while we can because, if I remember correctly, we have very little sunshine during the winter.

Old Glory On Veterans Day

Long Point, Late Afternoon
Yesterday was a big day, a plumber early to give our boiler a check up, then the microwave and oven in the afternoon.  So I still went to yoga, knowing that Evie and our plumber could handle the boiler without me and I was right.  When I got home, everything was ship shape and Evie had made sure he checked the antifreeze in our boiler.  So the day started out well.  And yoga was good, lots of students in Julie's class, so she was very happy.  I didn't stop for coffee because I wanted to get home to see how things were going.

When we got home, we then moved the stove out from the wall, so Evie could clean behind it, getting ready for the movers.  I had a lunch of leftover butter chicken and then we waited for the guys to arrive. Why, however, are things never easy? Pull out the old oven, take the micro wave off the wall, and put the new ones in place, right.  Wrong.  First, the guy walks in, looks at the microwave and says he can't hang the new one, two inches longer than the old, because of the tiles.  We need to get someone in to cut two inches of the glass tiles off, no easy job because it might crack, so that they can fasten the microwave to the wall.  So we had to decide what to do and for now, we cancelled the order.  We can always buy it again if we can find someone to do the work, or find a smaller microwave or stick with the one we have.  So that didn't go so well but the oven should be fine.  They rolled it in plugged it in but it would fit tight against the back wall because of electrical box.  The mover said the socket was upside down, needed to be changed sideways, so the plug would fold and we could push the range against the wall.  So we will need a electrician to do that.  We kept the oven, however, thinking changing electrical socket would not be so bad and we could live with the oven as is for a while.  They left and we turned the oven on for an hour, as recommended, to get rid of the smell of a sealent they put on.  No problem, just a smell for an hour.  Evie was reading about one of the burners, which supposedly boils water in record time.  So I got out my tea pot, to make Turkish tea, put it on the burner and guess what.  It seemed to take longer than our old stove.  It certainly was not a super hot burner as advertised.  That was discouraging, as was most of the afternoon.  I finally got my hot water to boil, made Turkish tea, and sat down to enjoy the fading sun, my book and forgot about the past few days.

Dark Clouds Over Long Point
For dinner, Evie had made a pot of chili earlier in the day and the range heated it up nicely, big deal, heating up a pot of chili.  We decided to have a cocktail night after the rigors of the past few days which culminated in our Friday afternoon snafu.  Evie got out the hummus, the endamame, and I made a Manhattan and we watched the sun set, enjoying our appetizers, trying to laugh about the way things tend to work out, not always the way would have liked.  C'est la vie.

A Stack Of Clouds, A Blue Lake
Around 7:00, we had chili, heated perfectly by our new stove, added some cheese and it was good, made especially so because we added our neighbors home grown jalapenos.  We watched another episode of HBO's Vice news.  We both highly recommend it as we did yesterday.  And then we watched the various news programs, as they analyzed the latest news.  Not much variety there which is one of the reasons why we like Vice News. Bed sounded good so we went up early to read some, hoping to fall asleep easily. We did.
