Super Moon at 7:31 |
It's now been an hour since I got up and the sun is just starting to rear its face above the shore of Lakeside Drive. I fear the heavy cloud cover may obscure it's full face as I can just make out a speck of brightness. It's 7:00, still a brisk southerly wind, and 55ยบ. Yep, no sun rise for now, just a heavy cloud bank.

Yesterday was sunny but windy, making it difficult to be outside for long. I started the day with yoga at 9:30, what seemed like a good idea for lots of us because we were packed in the studio, even a couple of other guys. It seemed everyone felt energized by the weather, wanting to start the fall off right with a yoga practice. No coffee, no Wegman's, I just came straight home to a windy lakefront, so much so that it eventually drove Evie off the dock. And that's about it for the day, nothing of great import, just attempts at reading on the dock, on the side yard, eventually in the house. I got fed up with with sitting inside, so I drove over to Bemus, parked my car just beyond the bridge, and went for a bike ride, down to and beyond Warner Bay, then back to the tip of Long Point, then along Lakeside Drive and Bemus back to my car. Fortunately, the wind was not much of a problem, only on one small section, so it was a pleasant ride.

We ended up having a beer and watching most of the US Open Men's Finals, not too exciting for some reason and even the announcers seemed bored. But it was nice to see a new face win it all, a Croatian named Marin Cilic. We had an easy dinner, as Evie warmed up the chicken with creamy mushroom sauce from Friday, steamed some broccoli, made a salad and we had dinner. Around 7:30, our neighbor, Pat Jones, called to say there was an amazing super moon, hanging over Bemus, so we ran outside to the end of the dock to admire it and take some pictures. We, then, watched two more episodes of The Killing, with one to go. At 10:00, I was happy to go upstairs to read. At the moment I am reading two books, THE UNLIKELY PILGRIMAGE OF HAROLD FRY in the evening, THE EMPEROR OF ALL MALADIES: A BIOGRAPHY OF CANCER during the day, different but readable.
