Another Morning of Quiet On Lake Chautauqua

6:39
I was up way too early, 6:05, still tired from our 'wild weekend' of partying.  Not something Evie and I are used to  but it was worth it, to celebrate with Jill, Drew and the girls, a great weekend in Bristow, VA.  It's a warm morning, so I  sat out on the front porch until the sun rose above the morning cloud cover, making it difficult to see.

Not much to say about yesterday, as the weekend fun was over, and all we had ahead of us was a seven hour drive home.  We felt guilty about leaving Jill and Drew with the detritus of a party but we wanted to be on our way by 9:00.  We said our good byes, both were up, tired but happy because the party went so well.  The ride, as usual, was different only in that the scenery, always different, was heavy with the green of trees and grass, so different from the stark winter landscape.  More traffic than our trips in spring and fall, and it was a Sunday, a day to be out and about for many people.  O, I forgot, that before we headed up, we made a vital stop at Trader Joe's about 15 minutes from Jill's, to pick up a couple of cases of Two Buck Chuck, for the next couple of weeks and five jars of Evie's favorite salsa. It added about a half hour to our drive but will be worth it.  We did stop at Gio's Barbecue, and I got a pulled pork sandwich, with lots of cole slaw, which kept me happy the next three hours.  We also stopped in Sugar Grove and picked up two gallons of Pot O Golds chocolate milk for next weekend when our grandchildren arrive, nothing like it, smooth, chocolaty, and delicious.

When we got home, around 5:15, we were both exhausted from the weekend, understandably, but we were able to unpack quickly, check out the house and yard, then sit on our front porch for an hour, relaxing and enjoying the return to the homestead, thinking ahead to all the things we have to do to get ready for the next couple of weeks.  Evie made BLT's for dinner, nothing like bacon to cheer both of us up, and we watched a few DVRed programs till about 10:00 when we both went up to bed, ready for a  good night's sleep, in our own bed, nothing like it.
