A Cool, Fog Bound Morning Sky

6:46
7:05
Up around 6:45, sleeping in, sort of, to a black and white photo like lake, shades of grayness, as the fog hugs the shorelines.  It's now 7:30 and much of it has burnt off, though steam still rises from the south, the eastern shoreline still hazy but discernible.  And as I finish this, the fog has just slid back in, hiding the opposite shore once again.
Annabelle Hydrangeas, Signs of Summer
Yesterday was a busy morning for me, a routine doctor's appointment in Jamestown at 8:00, then an oil change/safety check at 9:00, a blood test at 9:40, yoga at 10:00, Wegman's at 11:40, home by 12:20. Whew!  I did it.  It poured during yoga class, pelting the metal roof, and it also rained when I went to Wegman's.  When I got home, however, it had not rained at all, the roads dry, no puddles.  While I was out, Evie made up some creamed spinach, getting things ready for shell stuffing this morning with Linda McClure.

We had invited the Leonard's, six of them, over for dinner, so in between watching the World Cup, I helped Evie get things ready for dinner.  We had hoped to eat outside but it was quite windy, even cool if the sun was not out, so we decided we better eat inside.  So, Evie started some prepping for dinner, simmering the chicken, getting the dough ready for homemade noodles.
Dinner with Leonard Family
The Leonards came over around 5:30, and we sat inside, enjoying some drinks and hanky pankies but then, all adjourned to the kitchen or bar stools, to watch the making of fresh noodles or fettuccine.  The kids, Isabel and Brian, and Evie did all the making (mostly Isabel and Brian), and it went easy this time.  About the time they were ready to cook the noodles in chicken broth,  I grilled the chicken outside with barbecue sauce. Our dinner  was great, a traditional summer dinner of barbecued chicken and noodles and salad, and Kathy brought her homemade tabbouleh which went great with our dinner.  For dessert, we had a blue berry crispy, made by Joyce, with ice cream of course, one of our favorite summer desserts.  Nothing like a crisp with ice cream.

After dinner, we played Apples to Apples with the whole gang, at the dinner table, and the kids loved it, laughing and giggling at the silly answers we came up with.  We ended the evening around 9:30 with two games of Jenga and again, the kids loved it, played extraordinarily well.  Everyone was home by 9:30, and Evie and I then cleaned up the kitchen, watched some TV and went to bed, another busy day at the lake.
