Yesterday was both relaxing and busy, as we had to get ready for our trip, pack, and also get the house ready for our return, as well as the yard. It did not, however, deter me from yoga. I took our neighbor's daughter Kathy along because I thought she might enjoy this class, which she did enough to want to go back next week. When I got home, around 11:30, it was overcast, even raining some so I knew Evie would be out in the yard, cutting the grass before it got too wet. And I was correct, so I eased her way by moving all the lawn furniture and it was done within a half hour and, of course the rain stopped.
Early afternoon, we read some on the dock, so Evie could finish her book, then came in because it was getting windy and cold out on the dock, especially when the sun hid behind the clouds. The sky was filled with puffy, ice cream cone shaped clouds until a threatening mass of gray took over. So, we packed, made sure we had the right things, dressy for Friday's ceremony at Ft, Belvoir, in DC, casual for Saturday night's bash at Jill house. Late afternoon, I went to Hogan's Hut to pick up ice for the stuffed shells we are bringing for the party on Saturday.
We were packed and ready for this morning's trip by 5:00, so we could relax with a beer on our porch, then have an easy dinner of leftover chicken, mushrooms and artichokes. We caught up on Stewart and Colbert, who are back on air after a two week hiatus. We sure miss them when they are on vacation. It's difficult to keep up on the news. And we watched a couple of episodes of a new series, set in the Middle East, called Tyrant. We are not yet sure whether we like it or not. At times it's silly, at others an interesting look at a society and culture very different from our own. I finished THE SILKWORM and started Olen Steinhauer first novel called THE BRIDGE OF SIGHS, set in 1948 in Eastern Europe, three years after the Russians liberated a small nation, most like Hungary, not quite up to the quality of his latest I fear.
