A Many Splendid Morning

6:15
It's just about 7:00 and I have been up around forty five minutes.  It's a cool, 57º, the way it should be for great sleeping, but will warm up to 80º later in the day. Some puffy clouds over to the east but a mostly clear sky.  It looks like a good day ahead.

Yesterday was sunny and breezy, the high's in the 70's, reminding me of a Indian Summer fall day, sunny and cool, with a dab of warmth when you sat in the sun.  I went to yoga, only about eight of us, as Thursday is usually the most popular morning.  Lots of emphasis on ham strings, the key to sitting and standing properly.  I stopped at Ryder's Cup, learned that the barrista's dog had died from consuming a mushroom, which attracts dogs.  They are found mostly in the woods, have migrated down from Canada, have a fishy odor and spots on them.  Dog owners beware.  I have never heard of this but I assume he knows what he is talking about.
Mega Stuffed Shells...Done
When I returned home, our good friend Linda McClure was just heading out, after helping Evie make four batches of stuffed shells.  It made Evie's morning much easier and fun, and she's now finished with them, all frozen and ready for our son in laws retirement party next weekend.  And the weed cutters came by for the first time this summer, driving their huge Caterpillar like machines almost up to our wall, hopefully getting rid of most of the weeds.  According to the guys, it's been the best summer of weeds in thirty years.  They assume the growth will pick up in August but for now, they don't have much work.
Weed Cutters
For much of the rest of the day, we took it easy, Evie enjoying the outdoors, talking with neighbors,   reading some, and topping the afternoon off with a quick cutting of the lawn.  I hung a magazine rack in our bathroom, now reading room, reminding me of what Turks used to say about their Turkish squatting toilets---that Turks would never be educated until they had sit down toilets.  Around 3:30, I somehow found my mojo and went biking over at Bemus, down Lakeside Drive, through Long Point to the tip, and back to the bridge, about forty five to fifty minutes, depending on how fast you go.  It was a perfect day to bike, cool, roads not busy, blue skies, the best.

When I got home, Evie and I put together a salad of arugula, fennel, and zucchini, all sliced thinly with a mandolin, with a lemon/mustard dressing.  And, earlier in  the day, Evie put together a noodle, spinach, and tomato sauce casserole, so she put that in the oven.  We then sat on the front porch, for a beer, watching the afternoon go by before going in for dinner.  We watched another episode of HBO's The Leftovers and we are still not taken with it.  We then sat outside with the Leonard's, playing bean bag, sitting around their fire pit, making smores, as dusk slowly descended on the lake.  We went in around 9:45 and then soon after going upstairs to read.
