Cloudy and Cool After A Day of Rain

7:10 AM
Up at 7:00, to the sound of bass boats firing out of the Marina, off to win the trophy.  It's still cloudy out, a hint of open sky off to the north and much cooler, 46º as I write.  Other than a few fishing boats, there's little action on the lake, in the neighborhood.

I cannot remember a day like yesterday in a long time, a day where it just rained and rained, over an inch and a half by mid afternoon when it stopped and cleared slightly but by then, it was too late to do much but keep reading, which I did most of the afternoon.  Evie and I either read or watched TV much of the day, unusual for us but what else were we to do?  It actually was enjoyable to sit inside, listen to the rain and read the new Jack Reacher novel, NEVER GO BACK, all afternoon.  I finished it in literally in twenty four hours and have started another Robert Crais novel, the first in the Elvis Cole/Joe Pike series, THE MONKEY'S RAINCOAT, on my Kindle.  We did feel sorry for the guys in the fishing tournament, in their rain gear most of the day, fighting the elements to catch a fish.  What persistence!
Fishing In A Torrential Rain
For dinner, Evie made a salad and we heated up the left over pizza, just as good as the night before. We watched a seven year old Turkish film called Tekka, one neither of us much liked but we marshaled on to the end.  It's the story of a humble Muslim believer, chosen by his Shaikh, to be his rent collector. With it comes a new life, a car, a driver, a new home, a suit, an introduction to modern life and its temptations, the theme of the movie: the complexity of the intersection of religious tradition and the modern world.  No answers, just questions, and the anguish of the man who feels he has sinned, let down his God.  Melodramatic and overdone.
A Late Afternoon Respite From the Rain

Today we expect some sun, the possibility of rain but a better day than yesterday.
