Sunny, Windy, And Cool

7:36

8:49

Well, it's 8:00, and we both have been up for 45 minutes on a cool 45º morning. The flag is flapping. It looks like a sunny but coolish day with highs in the 50s. It's 8:50 and I paddled for just over 20 minutes, into the wind and down to the campground and back. It was too windy to go much farther.

Yesterday was a different day for me, not for Evie. I was up early because I had breakfast in Ashville at 8:00 and had no time for kayaking. Breakfast as always, was tasty and Tom and I had a good time catching up. I was home by 9:10 and worked on the blog so that Evie could edit it before she left for kindergarten class. Once it was published and she left, I decided to go for a paddle but it was a short one because of the wind, waves, and drizzle. I was home by 10:00, with nothing I had to do. So as I was sitting my living room, I decided to start an online boating course. Everyone in New York must take and pass the test to get a boating certificate stating you have taken and passed the test. There are six sections to it, each a half-hour video with a practice test to follow. So most of the morning was taken up with watching videos and taking practice tests for the first three sections.

By noon, I was hungry, so I grabbed a couple of tortillas, filled them with ground beef and cheese and toasted them on a pan until the cheese had melted, an easy, tasty lunch. I watched my show and enjoyed my lunch. Around 1:30, I read and napped until 2:30 when Evie returned home. I then started up on my next couple of sections of the boating test until Evie reminded me I had beers at Hawthorne Hill with the guys at 4:00. It was 3:50 when she mentioned this so I hurried got dressed and drove over to Hawthorne Hill, arriving 15 minutes late. The four of us sat around Jack's den because it was too cold to sit outside and caught up with each other's winters, some in Florida, others traveling around the US. We are a busy group of guys. We stayed until 5:45 and then drove home, vowing to meet again in a month.

Evie had dinner ready, the leftover meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy. Yum. We watched  Jeopardy Masters for an hour, always fun, then some of the new and Colbert before Evie went up to bed  I stayed up until 10:00, watched some NBA and Joe Pickett before going up to read, then sleep.
