At the moment, 8:55, the sun is shining brightly, its reflection bright and shiny on a still frozen lake. Evie has no school today and I am skipping yoga so we are both footloose and fancy-free.

Ice Fishing In Mayville |
Yesterday began early with a contractor stopping by at 8:30, to give us a sense of what it would cost to aircondition our downstairs, perhaps a couple rooms of our upstairs. We already have one quote and are looking forward to what he comes up with. We liked him so I hope he gives us a good price. Evie left for kindergarten at 9:30 and I followed soon after, to meet a friend at Ryders Cup for coffee. It's always fun because Paul knows practically everyone who comes in for a cuppa. One of his friends mentioned that he is a birder and has been driving up to Ripley, NY, about a half-hour drive, because hundreds of hawks fly north on their migration. It sounded neat and I plan on heading up there sometime next week. If you are interested, sign up for Ripley Hawk Watch on Facebook.

Dragging Their Sleds In |
On my way home, I drove to Mayville, and checked on my dock pieces, making sure all would be ready for April. I then drove to Mayville, just to see how many guys were out ice fishing. Lots. On my way home, I stopped at the Lighthouse for some ground chuck and hamburger buns for dinner. I was home by 12:30 and had Evie's veggie soup for lunch and watched an episode of a new series on Netflix, The Snow Girl. After lunch, I started a new novel by Joseph Finder called The Fixer. I napped of course and Evie didn't get home until 3:00, having done some shopping after school and gotten her hair trimmed.

Wine Time With Sun And Blue Skies |
Around 4:00, I walked the neighborhood with my neighbor Jim and his dog Ripley, trying to figure out the plan for the sewers. Some areas are done, but others are left alone and we are not sure why. At 5:00, we had our usual wine time but it's not the same because it's too light out. We much prefer the darkness when having a drink. Dinner was burgers and a salad, just what I wanted and we watched a couple of episodes of The Resident and Colbert before Evie went up to bed. I then watched some basketball and my series before joining her.
