A spectacular morning of first moonlight, then a sky of pink and orange greeted me this morning although now, at 8:21, the sky is back to Chautauqua gray. We have a winter advisory starting at 2:00 this afternoon, for icy roads and freezing rain. Since we are going to a friend's house for dinner, let's hope it is inaccurate.

Swans Hanging Out In Victoria |
Yesterday, despite the fact it was New Year's Eve, seemed like any other day for us since we stayed home and did not venture out other than to take out trash and pick up the mail. The morning was typical, enjoying our morning coffee, relaxing with our devices, finishing the blog, and having breakfast. We thought about getting outside but both our parking area and the road were covered with ice so we decided to pass on any walking. Neither of us minded much because we had little mojo other than to hang out for the day.

Cruising By This Morning, January 1st, 2021 |
I was happy to read my book, The Guest List, and finish it mid-afternoon creating the problem of finding something else to read. Because Evie had made barley and mushroom soup Wednesday, I had an easy and filling lunch, a couple of bowls of soup. I then finished my book, and fell asleep, taking another fine nap, Our afternoon seemed to slow down, as we waited for wine time. Around 5:00, Evie began making a Mac N Cheese, my request to go along with burgers. Because we did not have any Kraft's, she had to make it from scratch which is like another Mac N Cheese entirely. I helped with the dishes, poured the wine, and spent time looking for a book to read until I heard someone's favorite book of the year mentioned on the Julie Mason podcast, a novel by Ayad Akhtar called Homeland Elegies. I quickly downloaded it and immediately liked it so I am happy.
We loved the Mac N Cheese and both of us had seconds, overshadowing the burgers with mushrooms, We watched a couple episodes of both Midnight Diner and Schitts Creek, another Deadwood, ending the night by watching some of the lead up to midnight with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen on CNN, quite a contrast to old days when Dick Clark reigned. Neither of us made it to midnight, alas.
