Kickin Back In Dallas

Marisa And Her Mom
Same story, up early, around 6:00, as Rami has already left for his Crossfit class and I sit here having coffee, listening to Morning Joe.  It's now 8:15, Rami has returned, eaten breakfast and gone to work.  Beth has taken Marisa to school, is home now.  Evie's up, too, and I have just returned from taking Cody for a walk.  And so it goes.

Yesterday morning was similar to what I described above except at 9:30, Beth and I left for yoga at Nanah Shivaya Jyoti Yoga, situated in a strip mall, about 15 minutes away.  It was, for me, a fairly vigorous class, led by Erin, who I liked.  She knows what her students' limitations are and always suggests alternatives to a pose, either modifying it for the beginner or the expert.  I hung in there, looking forward to Savasana.  The class was an hour and I enjoyed it, especially when we did asanas with which I was unfamiliar.  We were home around 11:00 and decided to get more Thanksgiving shopping done.  So the three of us jumped in Beth's Mini and drove to a very busy Lover's Lane, to Trader Joe's, also crowded with shoppers like us, trying to beat the crowd on Wednesday.  We were able to get most things we needed but I was disappointed because they were out of our favorite crappy but cheap Sauvignon Blanc.  And it was on sale for $1.99 a bottle, a deal.  We also did a quick stop at Tom Thump, the local grocery store to get what we could not find at Trader Joe's.  We were home by 12:30.

I made myself a great sandwich of the leftover steak, with lots of horseradish and finished up a mac n cheese leftover from a couple of days ago.  Evie and Beth, however, drove to Bed, Bath, and Beyond, for Evie's neverending quest to find the right down pillow.  It seemed to work because she came home with one, for a deal, only seventy bucks.  I meanwhile read, took another great nap, over an hour and then took Cody for another walk when Beth and Evie went to pick Marisa up at 4:30.

Beth And Her Mom
We then started prepping dinner around 5;30, with a glass of vino of course.  Beth had marinated chicken thighs and breasts in yogurt and spices earlier in the day, so she got them out and ready to bake.  We were also having butternut squash with kale, so she cut up the squash, roasted it and sauteed the kale for about twenty minutes until it was tender.  Rami didn't get home until about 7:00, so we waited dinner for him.  Everyone was hungry so that all the chicken was eaten, most of the kale with squash and hardly any cauliflower rice was left.

We were still hungry after dinner, so Beth and I drove to Trader Joe's to get a cherry pie.  Unfortunately, either they were out of them or never had them so we went to Tom Thumb's and picked one up.  By the time we got home, the gang had already eaten part of an almond Kringle from Trader Joe's.  Still, we had cherry pie with ice cream, while Evie quizzed Marisa on her Social Studies as we watched Shark Tank.  Evie and Marisa went up to bed around 10:00 and I stayed up until 11:00 watching the NFL game.

For Victoria
Today we are driving downtown Dallas to visit the Texas School Book Depository's Sixth Floor Museum, at Dealey Plaza the venue where Lee Harvey Oswald shot JFK in 1963.  It should be interesting.
