On The Road, Again And Again

7:35
We are leaving for Virginia this morning around 8:00, how exciting.  We are going to my niece's wedding in Alexandria, VA, for weekend and all our kids and grandchildren are coming.  So we not only get to go to a wedding but also get to enjoy a family gathering for a couple of days.  The drive looks wet, as it's already raining here at the lake at 6:30 in the morning.  At least it's not snow...that comes tomorrow.

Wednesday went quickly, as we were fairly organized for our trip and there was little of the anxiety we usually feel when we get ready to travel.  We must be getting better at it.  I did take another trip to Lakewood, picked up a few last things for our trip, stopped for a coffee, and mailed some cards.  And that was more or less it for the day.  Late morning, the Time Warner guy stopped by, with a new DVR, so we can now tape six shows at once, keep mega hours of taping.  We used to have trouble on Sunday nights because there were more than two shows we wanted to record and couldn't.  Now we can...ain't technology wonderful and expensive.

Since I finally finished Longmire and will have to wait until next season on Netflix to see if Walt survives being gunned down in coitus interruptus.  It's going to be a long winter.  So I started another lunchtime series, this time the Swedish version of Henning Mankell's novels called Wallender.  I had started it last year but stopped because of a vacation but wanted to get back to it.  The Swedish actor who plays Wallender is so good.  I finished off the pork chops and beans for lunch, emptying our refrigerator, so nothing will spoil when we are on the road.

Late Afternoon, 4:45
During the afternoon, the sun came out briefly and we had some blue skies, a nice way to end the day.  My final task was to put up a fishing line to keep those pesky geese off our lawns.  They have been a nuisance the past few weeks and for some reason, seem to like the lake in front of our house.

We were all packed, ready to fill the car by 5:00, so we could relax some before dinner.  We listened to Potus, as the pundits analyzed last night's debate, most agreeing with me though some crazies thought the blustering Trump won it.  What channel were they watching?  Dinner was easy, nothing elaborate, bacon, chicken, lettuce and tomato sandwiches.  Because we were excited about leaving tomorrow, we couldn't wait for the evening to be over.  We watched an old fashioned cowboy movie called Slow West, set in 1870, about a Scottish youth who follows his love to America, and with the help of an outlaw, travels across the US to find her. The scenery is spectacular, it's filmed in New Zealand and not in the US as I thought.  I would give it a average rating, worth watching when you are caught up with all your other TV series.  Later, we were entertained by watching how MSNBC viewed the debate, in contrast to the pundits from Fox News.  My verdict...Fox news is much more entertaining.
