Another Winter Storm Watch

8:13

10:47 Friday Night

It's just after 9:00 and snowing, in fact, it's been snowing since I woke at 8:00. Nevertheless, the ice fishermen are out, at least ten tents off of Long Point, hoping to catch a walleye. We probably received three or four inches overnight and I will be out there shoveling in an hour, before heading to the Transfer Station.

Saturday Morning Ice Fishermen

We were looking forward to Friday because we were going out to dinner and a movie with friends. First, however, we had to get through the day. And our routine rarely changes, waking, having our coffee, finishing the blog, and having breakfast, rarely any for Evie, but granola, hemp hearts, blueberries and yogurt for me, a staple for the past eight or nine years. I went into the attic on Thursday and brought my cross-country skies, poles and boots down. So yesterday morning, after shoveling, I put them on and skied around the neighbor roads, ensuring I could still handle the skies without falling. It was much more strenuous then I remember. Once I made it around the loop, I skied through a foot or more of snow to the lake and then skied on its surface for maybe ten minutes. It was slow going because of the depth of the snow and also wet beneath the surface, so one of my skies froze, making it hard to slide. I was out for a half hour and came home beat from the effort.

Evie had been working on deep cleaning the kitchen and organizing the cupboards, which always seem messy. I had the leftover ravioli and asparagus for lunch and watched my show. I finished my Jackson Brodie book in the afternoon, after a nap. We were both showered and ready by 5:00 and walked down to our neighbor's house for the drive to Jamestown.

Bemus Bay Late Afternoon

I had suggested a restaurant in downtown Jamestown called Sauce. We got there around 5:40, ordered libations, and an hour later, we still had not gotten our food and the film, Conclave, was starting in 25 minutes at the Reg Lenna. So Jim talked to the owner and he comped our drinks and we left without having dinner. We got the Ren Lenna at about 6:50 and while I bought tickets, Evie bought popcorn, a pretzel and a Snickers bar for our dinner. Yum. The theater was maybe half full and the movie was over around 9:15. I had read the novel so I knew the surprising ending which elicited laughs from the crowd. I didn't think it was funny when I read the book.

We were home around 9:40 and Evie had a bowl of Cheerios and I made my 11 grain toast with peanut butter and jelly. We watched a bit of TV before going to bed.
