The sun rose as I came downstairs at 7:00. The sky is blue with no clouds or ice fishermen in sight because it's eight below. It's just 9:00, and Evie's up as I start to finish the blog. We are listening to Michael Smerconish, our companion for the next three hours. I perused the NYTimes and six articles were about Trump. I better get used to it. I assume all women and minorities who voted for him are happy with his Executive Orders. They better get ready to live back in the 1950s when America was "great."
Tuesday was another decent day. Evie enjoyed kindergarten, with lots of stories. As for me, I wanted to get out of the house so after I cleaned the car for her, I left for Lakewood and stopped at Ryders Cup for coffee. The usual suspects were there, Neal and Paul and his wife Ellen so we kibitzed for a good forty five minutes until we got back to our to-do list. I went to Walmart to get an easy dinner so Evie didn't have to stress about dinner after school. So I picked up a rotisserie chicken, Bob Evans mashed potatoes for dinner, and a few other items. I was home by noon, read for a while then heated up the leftover scalloped potatoes and ham and watched the last episode of Whitechapel.

My book, The Restless Wave, follows young midshipmen during WW II and he has just been involved in the battle of Midway and is about to participate in Guadalcanal. It's not my favorite book but I am enjoying it. Evie didn't get home until 2:30, having stopped at Aldi's after class. Unfortunately, she had a bad headache and didn't feel well most of the afternoon. So neither of us did much the rest of the afternoon and it was too frigid outside to hike. By 5:30, I cleaned the Brussel sprouts, put them on a tray with olive oil, garlic and parmesan cheese, and roasted them for a half hour. Dinner was chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, and brussel sprouts. Evie made herself eat but went up to bed early, with a headache and cold. I watched the news until I got depressed, after about ten minutes, then some Bill Maher and a new series called A Person Of Interest. I am not sure if I will stick with it. After an episode, I went up to read and sleep.
