Breezy, Sunny, And Cold

It's 8:00 and I slept in for once, till 7:00, on a morning where the sun did arise, the lake is filled with ice floes, and we witnessed a boat cruise by Tom's Point.  It looks like another cloudy day, with some rain later as the temperatures will rise into the high 30's. 

Long Point

Tuesday was another gray, even dreary day, the usual here at the lake in winter.  We were in no hurry to get busy, enjoying coffee and the writing of the blog, picking out photographs to include. We then got a few things done, none that I can remember until 11:00 when we decided to get in a walk despite the weather. We drove over to Long Point State Park and I cross country skied while Evie walked.  The conditions were not ideal as much of the trails were frozen, icy from the rain.  I was able to stay on the edges of the icy trail most of the time where there was still snow,  Regardless, it was good to get outside and we met a couple other brave souls.

Lunch was a throwback to the 1950s, Lipton's chicken noodle soup, and a toasted cheese sandwich.  It tasted good to me after a tiring and sweaty cross country skiing.  I watched another episode of Undercover, then was happy to get back to my book, The Guest Book, by Sarah Blake, a multi-generational read. Both of us were tired from our outing in the woods, so little was accomplished during the afternoon other than a nap for me, a zoom call for Evie, and prepping our dinner. 

Mid-afternoon, Evie made a Thai marinade and sauce, of soy, peanut butter, and hot sauce.  She then marinated the chicken thighs in the sauce before frying them around 6:30.  Once they were done, they were served with the sauce, with sides of rice and broccoli.  It's an easy and tasty dinner, the chicken thighs flavorful because of the Thai sauce.  As usual, we did not know what to watch so we went back to Schitt's Creek, a series we started two or three times but did not like and started it again because of all the awards it got and the number of friends who love it.  And, guess what, we are starting to like it and watched five half-hour episodes before finishing Season One of Deadwood, quite a contrast to Schitt's Creek.
