It's 7:00 and I have been up since the sun rose, just after 6:00. It's a clear sky morning, no clouds, just a light blue sky, and 60º. No rain in sight so we should have another easy day, with maybe three trips to the Transfer Station (lots of trash), the store, and dock time. It was a good morning to kayak, photos of both a great blue heron and an osprey as I listened to Bruce Springsteen's Greatest Hits.

Yesterday didn't seem like a Friday although I have had that feeling all week. For example, Thursday felt like a Saturday and so on. At least, today, it is Saturday. I started yesterday as usual with a paddle and fortunately, a photograph of an osprey. Just Beth and Evie were up having their coffee on the front porch when I returned. We decided that we had neglected to go blueberry picking when all the girls were here and Tyler and Marisa loved them, so by 10:00, the three of us were ready to go pick at the blueberry patch, about 15 minutes away. I was shocked to see 15 cars lined up in the yard, up early like us, picking blueberries before it got too hot. We quickly grabbed buckets, walked to where we thought the ripe fat ones were and picked until we became too hot. I am not sure how many pounds we picked but it cost me around 25 bucks.

We were home to happy grandchildren as they saw us walk in with enough blueberries for the week and for us to freeze. The kids wanted blueberry muffins, the easiest and quickest way to have the blueberries so Evie got out the makings and with Marisa, they made a dozen blueberry muffins with crumbles on top. By the time they were done and the muffins were in the oven, it was lunchtime. So we pulled our favorite breakfast meat out of the refrigerator, peameal bacon and Evie fried it up and served it with a couple of eggs and bagels. It's like eating a thin slice of a pork chop for breakfast only better because it's wet cured in cornmeal, found mostly in southern Ontario. We get it at our local Lighthouse Point Grocery store.

Once we were full and happy, it was dock time and all four of us spent time out on the dock, sunning, floating on a raft, reading or swimming until 4:00. We then spent a leisurely couple of hours, then got ready for dinner out. We drove to Westfield, about a half-hour away, for the codfish fry at the Bark Grill. We had reservations and the restaurant was not that busy. Evie thinks it's the best fish fry around and both Beth and I agree as the cod is lightly battered and done perfectly. We had the calamari as an appetizer, devoured by Tyler and Marisa and left with slices of cheesecake and carrot cake for TV time. Our only reservation: it took close to an hour to get our meal. We were home before 9:00, changed into our jammies, enjoyed some dessert as we watched three more episodes of Working Moms. I have to admit to being uncomfortable with some of the topics the Mom's discussed in front of our grandchildren. And there is no way I can imagine watching a program like this as a teenager with my Mom. But, then, times have changed, maybe for the better, maybe not. And so it goes.
