For once, the weatherman was right. There is a heavy fog this morning, blocking any view beyond our dock although for a few minutes, I was able to see Long Point then it disappeared once again behind a blanket of fog. It's 51ºand I have been awake since 5:00, up for coffee at 5:30. Evie has joined me, too, having been awake for a while. Yuck. It's 7:30 and we are still fog bound.

Yesterday we were back in our routine although I did not get in a paddle and I had little interest in getting out on the water but not sure why. I did make it to breakfast with the guys, all lamenting the wet weather, making it difficult to not only play golf, fish, and also work in the yard. I drove to yoga at 9:30, stopping at Tri James office, to get a receipt for ten bucks worth of gravel. It's a good thing I was early to class because it soon filled up with hardly any room left for a latecomer. It's interesting how yin yoga is by far the most popular and easiest class. I like the other classes and teachers just as much but their classes are just not as popular. It felt good to be back on the mat, yoga that is, and I left feeling good about myself. I then drove to Home Depot and picked up some potting soil for the plants and seeds we bought in Virginia and a couple of bags of cement because I am finally putting in a flag pole this morning, a late birthday present for Evie. On the way home, I stopped and picked up more gravel at the pit for our road and parts of our yard. We can always use more.
We decided to work on our parking area before lunch, so I started digging out all the grass that began to grow, then filling the areas with stone. Evie then gathered all the painted rocks from the past three or four years and began setting them along the driveway, something we do every spring. The grandchildren paint them each summer so we have plenty to place along the parking area. After we were done, I sat done and enjoyed a couple of hot dogs for lunch, yes, with Stadium Mustard and began the fifth season of Bosch. I finished my novel, CHARM CITY by Laura Lippman, the second of a series of Tess Monaghan novels set in Baltimore. I fell asleep briefly but was up and ready to do something by 3:30. So I helped Evie finish up the laying of the painted rocks and then we both had a great idea. Get out the chaise lounges and enjoy the sun which had just come out in our side yard. It was a good way to spend the rest of the afternoon.

Casino Thursday Night |
Around 5:30, we came in and showered because we were going out to dinner with our new full-time neighbors, Barb and Jim. We decided on the Village Casino so we walked over to their house at 6:30 and were sitting at the Casino bar by 6:45. It was not very crowded although Jim mentioned that interestingly, there were more women at the bar than guys. Evie and I split the wings platter, always good and of course, we enjoyed a beer or two. It was fun to be out again, listening to Jim and Barb's stories about their last few days in Cleveland Heights before moving to the lake for good. It was a mixture of happy and sad, of course. We also talked about books we liked but neither of us could remember many of the book titles or authors. Typical but two stood out; I recommended OLIVE KITTERIDGE by Elizabeth Strout and Barb recommended ELEANOR OLIPHANT IS COMPLETELY FINE by Gail Honeyman.

We didn't get home till after 9:00, just in time to watch a Colbert and some news before going up to bed. It was a busy but fun first full day back to the lake.
