Long Point On A Sunday Morning In April |

It looks like another cold, partly cloudy morning (24º) with a chance of rain, perhaps snow. It's 7:30 and I have been up for forty-five minutes, having slept in, sort of. It's overcast at the moment, the repressed sun trying to break through. The lake, once seemingly open, is now partially frozen. I could probably kayak in front of our houses but not across the lake because of the ice.

Sea Gulls Perched Among A Raft Of Ducks |
Sunday was not necessarily a day to relax, yet we enjoyed it. It was cold, just getting up to the 30's, so we had an extended coffee hour, watching the waterfowl, freshly having arrived from the south. There were rafts of hooded mergansers as well as mallards and seagulls, perched on floating mini icebergs.

Vying For A Mate |
Around 10:30, I decided to take a walk in our woods just as it started to snow. The woods then had a dusting of white, the path covered with frozen leaves and deadfall from the past week's windstorms. It was good to be outside, to inhale the cold air, despite my frozen hands. I was out for just over a half hour, just right. When I got home, I helped Evie some with straightening the downstairs since we were having our neighbors, Pat and David over for dinner. They live in Houston and came up for a Spring week but surprise, it's a winter of spring.
Around 12:30, we had our breakfast of eggs, bacon and bagels and watched CBS Sunday Morning, a nice way to begin the afternoon. The rest of the afternoon was taken up with some prepping for dinner for Evie, dishwashing for me, and watching the Masters on and off during the afternoon. It was a pleasant way to spend the afternoon.

Neighbors Are Back |
Our neighbors arrived at 6:30, a bit later than usual because we knew they would want to watch the Masters and we hoped it would be over by then. Wrong. So they arrived just as Patrick Reed was ready to putt the 18th hole so we were able to watch him win together, to our delight. He deserved it, won it. We then relaxed in the living room with a glass of wine, cheddar cheese, crackers and Trader Joes chili lime cashews.

A Late Sunday Dinner |
Around 7:30, Evie put together our dinner, penne with shrimp, asparagus and a sauce with sundried tomatoes. And we had a salad of lettuce, arugula and fennel and sourdough rolls to complete dinner. Everything was great, of course, and it was fun catching up with Pat and David's life in Houston and their family. For dessert, we had a rich chocolate mousse, so rich that Evie and Pat could not finish theirs. They left about 10:00, on a cold evening and we had enough time to do some clean up before going up to bed. Another good day with neighbors.
