A Dusting Of Snow

8:00

Our Morning Song Bird
A gray, cold Easter morning with a patchwork of snow leftover on the roofs.  It's 27º out although it felt colder when I stepped outside to get the paper.  I am listening to CPAN as they discuss the Christian values of Spanky (Trump), why 80% of Evangelicals voted for him, an unusual topic for an Easter morning.  We have been watching what we assumed was a muskrat for the last couple of days sitting by a hole on the ice. It was confirmed this morning when I saw him disappear beneath the ice, about 25 yards from the shoreline.  Amazing animal.

Ducks Are Back
Yesterday was a mixed bag, as we were thinking of taking a walk somewhere, perhaps the Audubon but we then received a phone call from our Amish upholstery guy, saying our porch cushions were ready to be picked up.  So we put aside the hike, easily, and drove to his farm, on muddy, potholed roads, our four wheel drive Outback swerving in the mud.  We also brought a chair to see if it made sense to have it reholstered but decided against it because it might be cheaper to buy a new chair. It was a delightful drive, with mostly Amish farms, clothes drying in the wind, Amish horse carts parked in the yards.  And it looked like Spring had finally sprung, as the fields were starting to turn green with new shoots.

Amish Mom And Her Children
We were home around 12:30 and Evie made us a delicious lunch, of the leftover Chicken Milanese, topped with a salad, basically our Thursday night dinner.  I finished the French series La Mante and will now have to come up with a new series to watch at lunchtime.  We did not venture forth the rest of the afternoon, content to enjoy the afternoon, waiting for the March Madness games to begin.  Evie had put together our dinner, a parmesan, mushroom and chicken casserole early morning so dinner was basically done.

An Easy Bread
Around 4:00, we decided to bake some bread, so we pulled the dough out of the refrigerator which had been rising for 24 hours.  Evie pulled out a chunk, let it rise for about forty-five minutes, then baked it for 35 minutes, pulling it out when it was golden brown.

Cracking Up
We decided to have a Manhattan Saturday night, with the last of the Fromage D'Affinois, so after the bread was done, Evie put dinner in the oven and we relaxed with our drinks and cheese and crackers until dinner was ready.  I was not that interested in the Michigan/Loyola game, so we missed that but were done with dinner by the time the Kansas game came on.  I felt that Villanova was the best team in the Final Four by far, so I was not surprised when they beat Kansas handily.  And I expect them to beat Michigan on Monday.
