Well, we got hit overnight with a winter storm, lots of freezing rain, then snow, and at least six to eight inches of snow. It could have been worst. I am sure my car is frozen which should be fun to clear off this morning. And I was just thinking that the fishermen have finally gotten smart. None are on the lake when I looked up and spotted two dots in the middle of the lake, fishing.

Fog Rising |
Most of yesterday was unseasonably warm until mid-afternoon when it began to change. We were made aware repeatedly of the coming ice storm, possibly up to 12 inches of snow. So we wanted to make sure we were stocked up with goodies for the long weekend. So while Evie stayed and put together the dough for French baguettes, I drove off to Lakewood, stopping for a coffee and eggs at Ryders before shopping at Wegman's. I picked up the necessities and a few bad boys, like Affinois brie cheese and another tasty delight, Sopressata salami from Italy. Both will go well with Evie's French baguette.
When I got home, the bread was rising and Evie was beginning to prep our dinner by roasting some eggplant slices. Lunch was easy, warming up the chicken enchilada from Thursday night's dinner and turning on the TV to watch BERLIN STATION. Finally, there was some action, an attempt to catch some Islamic terrorists that goes wrong in a German mall. Wild and well filmed, with many innocent casualties. Another CIA action gone bad. I still have an annoying cough so I went upstairs to read, take a nap and hope I can stop coughing. I did.
Around 5:00, it started to get really nasty out, freezing rain mostly, snow later in the evening. We were worried about our neighbors who were coming up for the weekend from both Cleveland and Buffalo but they made it safely. Evie put together the eggplant with a tomato sauce, heated up noodles and we had dinner with her homemade baguettes. We also were able to get in a half hour of wine time before dinner.
We watched three more episodes of A PLACE TO CALL HOME and have only three left before we are finished with the series. It's been fun to follow a series like this for a couple of weeks even though it has the ring of a soap opera. One can't always read or watch serious stuff, right. How about something that is just entertaining, not informative or inspirational. Just fun. We ended up watching Seth Myers interview Jake Tapper, the CNN newscaster we have really liked since he spoke last June at our grandson Tyler's graduation from Dartmouth. We also got a good laugh out of Rachel Maddow who pointed out that in the message from White House doctor, who gave Trump his physical and deemed him fit, spelled his name wrong. Imagine that...the physician spelled his name wrong. Or did he not write it?
