Merry Super Bowl Sunday And Happy The Biggest Day in America

Bergen's Are Ready for Summer

8:00
Overcast, a few snow flakes, frosted lake and yard, as well as trees, and 12º here in Chautauqua, 1º in Niagara Falls I heard.  I am listening to NPR, and they are interviewing Kevin Spacey and David Feacher, both part of the new political series on Netflix called House of Cards.  We have watched the first four episodes the last two days, so it's fun to hear them talk about it.  Spacey plays the House whip, and has been likened to Shakespeare's Iago and Richard the Third, and his wife, played by Robin Wright, to Lady Macbeth.  If that doesn't pique your interest, nothing will.  Not too many likable characters in this political drama, just like our attitudes towards our own politicians, like Mitch Mc Connell, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi.  At least Kevin Spacey and his colleagues seem to get  something done.

Yesterday's yoga was good, lots of people, some new, and even three other guys.  This Saturday class is beginning to pick up more interest.  Evie also worked out at the YMCA, picked me up at Ryder's Cup, before we went off to Wegman's, to fight the pre Super Bowl crowds, for guacamole and nachos, pizza, and chicken wings, the big three so I have heard.  Unfortunately, we did not get the message, so we are having a Slovenia Super Bowl Party for the two of us, pork chops, beans and potato soup and sauerkraut.  We were supposed to go to the Grice's for a party but it was called off because Jerry's daughter is very sick in Florida, so he flew done yesterday.  I don't want any one to feel we don't have any friends.  But last year we sat home, too, watching the game and I have to admit to not minding it.  We can go to bed whenever we want and not pretend to care about the Super Bowl.

Late afternoon, becoming my favorite time hike, Evie and I went out and snow shoed the Victoria/Woodlawn woods and it was marvelous.  Cold, gray sky, lots of virgin snow, trees smeared with white, and a difficult hike one way, nice an easy when we came back because of our tracks.

We came home and showered and drove off to what is becoming a typical Saturday night, drinks and dinner at the Rod and Gun Club.  We sat at the bar for about a half hour, not as crowded as usual, probably because of the weather.  A guy sitting next to us was gambling, won sixty bucks, then two hundred, then another fifty.  We lost five!  There was no wait in the dining room when it's usually a half hour or more on Saturday night, had our Queen's cut of Prime Rib, with salad and potato, both quite good.  We got home in time two watch two more episodes of House of Cards before we went up to bed, tired from having worked out and hiked, then lived it up at the Rod and Gun Club.

Let's go Browns, I mean Ravens.
