7:30 with pockets of ice and water |

Surprise! A dusting of snow has covered much of the ground and parts of the lake have iced over, as gulls walk on it still, looking for food. We heard that tundra swans have been spotted at the south end but we have yet to see any, just some sea gulls, a hawk, though there are some spots of open water that may attract some wild life. And I just noticed a solitary buffleheaded duck, floating about thirty yards off shore, the first of 2012. It's 29 degrees at the moment and snow showers are predicted on an off during the day though the high will be in the 30's. A year ago we still had lots of snow and we were snow shoeing at Long Point. If the birds think spring is coming early, it must be true.
Yesterday was restorative yoga day, or Yin Yoga, and I enjoyed it, as we spend lots of time on each pose and it really makes you aware of the connective tissues in your body. We worked on hips and the lower back, so it felt good to stretch parts of the body where I tend to be tight. This seems to be a very popular session with 14 people in attendance, with little room left. Evie decided to stay home, rest up from our four mile walks, and took on cleaning and organizing the attic, quite a task as it tends to be a catch all for all the things we are not sure we want. Working on and off all day, she managed to get it much better organized and I have quite a few bags for the Transfer Station on Saturday. Don't you like the euphemism for Garbage Truck, a Transfer Station!
We had breaded tilapia, garlic spinach, and broccoli salad for dinner, again one of go to meals, easy, tasty and nutritious. For some reason, we were talking about George Clooney, how we liked him, which made us think of ER, where he made his name. We had really liked the show back in the 90's and wondered if it held up, so I ordered it on Netflix and we watched the first three episodes last night and it's still compelling, great acting, nerve racking at times, with a good story line, a model for today's shows, with a current story combined with an on going narrative.
