More Winter Like

Wings Night

6:11

7:45

It's 6:50 and the morning darkness has given way to mostly gray, sky and lake. It's a chilly 23º and sections of the lake are frozen again. I cannot remember the lake freezing and unfreezing again and again like it has these past few months. As you can see from the photos, the eight inches of snow from Monday has begun to melt as well. It's 9:15 and I just returned from breakfast to finish up the blog then head off to yoga.

Wednesday was a typical Wednesday as not much changes here during the winter months. I was up early and had three hours before I had to head to yoga. Because of the wind and cold, I couldn't kayak so it was a long morning of a couple of cups of coffee, reading on my computer, and writing the blog. It was a relief to drive to yoga at 10:00, for another interesting and arduous class with Tara. We spent the first ten minutes massaging our feet with a ball, then got into lots of squats and difficult positions like that. It felt good to finally get to savasana, dead man's pose, the way we always end class. I am good at that.

I was home by 11:30 and Evie had been busy and even gotten in a brief workout on the rebounder. She made me a couple of toasted cheese sandwiches to go along with the mushroom barley soup. She used Cooper's American cheese from Wegmans, my sister Ellen's favorite. At 1:30, our architect stopped over to begin thinking about building a garage in our side yard, something we have been putting off for years but think we need it. It will make life in the winter much easier for both of us. We are going to need some variances so that's his first step, to talk with the town about them. After he left, our electrician stopped over to just check that our car was charging correctly, Everything is copacetic and it seems to take less than three hours.

Kinney's Run

Around 4:00, Evie worked out for an hour, then showered and I went for a brief hike up the hill and through some of the woods for a half hour. We were determined to go out for dinner rather than hunker down in our TV room, so by 6:15. we were off to Steeners Irish Pub for wing night. We were lucky to find a parking spot and, when we walked in, a couple of seats at the bar were open. It was a good beginning. We ordered our beers, then the usual, two orders of wings and a large hand-cut fries. It was a busy night as people were waiting in line for tables. We loved our wings and french fries, so it was a  good night.  Unfortunately, we were not able to make new friends at the bar, but we still enjoyed being there. We were home by 8:00 and watched our usual shows before bed.
