Still Cruising The Lake |
It's another late morning for me, sleeping in until 7:45. It's 8:15 as I start this and notice quite a few birds are out in front of our house, mallards and seagulls I think, floating by some the lake must not be frozen. It's almost 10:30 as I finish this because Evie slept in, way in. I kayaked for an hour, sometimes through pieces of ice, as the lake seems to begin to freeze once again.

Paddling South |
Yesterday ended up being a pretty good day. I started with a short paddle because parts of the lake were frozen. After returning, I had breakfast and wrote the blog. Around 9:30, our neighbor, Jim, texted to see if we were interested in a walk around the Bentley Preserve in Greenhurst. It sounded good to both of us so we picked them up at 11:00 and drove over there a 15 minute drive. We have walked this area three or four times before so we knew what to expect, that it would be wet and muddy much of the way because the snow had melted. Even so, it was a fun walk, most of the way along a creek often blocked by what we assume were beaver dams. We were out for only forty-five minutes but that was enough. Just being in the brisk morning air was enough to energize all four of us.

With Barb And Jim |
We were home by 12:30 and Evie quickly made us breakfast, fried potatoes with onions, eggs, and toast. We enjoyed it as we watched the first half of the Bills game. At half-time, I had enough angst as the Bills were not playing that well and decided to nap and read. When I got up, we watched the rest of the game which I had saved and the Bills, fortunately, won, most likely the result of two interceptions and two kickoff returns for touchdowns.

Sunday Dinner |
We then relaxed but by 5:50, we were both showered and dressed and on our way to Linda and Ron's for Sunday dinner. Yippee. We always love going there and Linda is a great cook. We sat in their kitchen, enjoying a nice white wine and yummy appetizers which are hard to explain. Dinner was a luscious cheesy sausage lasagna, salad, and garlic bread, highlighted by a bottle of red wine. We ended the night in the living room with raspberry liquor. I enjoyed mine with a cat on my lap, happy to get attention. We didn't get home till 9:45 and were tired enough to go right up to bed, to read some then sleep, the end of a good day.
