9:15 |
It's 8:30 and Drew and I have been up since 6:45, solving the world's problems as usual. It looks like a fine day here in Virginia as the sun is out, the sky is blue and it's warming up, with a high in the 50's today, high in the 60's Christmas Day.

On The Way |
Our drive yesterday was easy, our usual seven hours from the lake to Bristow, VA. We know it by heart, have our usual stops and we were surprised by the lack of traffic everywhere. It was overcast most of the way, so the drive was not as scenic as it might be in the Fall or late Spring. We were treated to lots of Trump and "Let's Go Brandon" signs in the outskirts of Warren, PA, giving you some idea of the mentality in the rural areas of Pennsylvania.

Halle Driving Granny |
We arrived at Jill's just before 3:00 and were greeted enthusiastically by the dogs and Jill. We left the luggage until later and were happy to relax and catch up with Jill and our granddaughter, Hayden until Halle and Drew returned home. It was great to see them, the first time since July and they all are fine, Hayden a junior at West Virginia, University, Halle a junior at Patriot High School.

Hayden, Halle, And Friend Kaylei |
After the girls helped us with unloading our car, we enjoyed a happy hour with wine and a charcuterie and cheese appetizer, a great way to start our visit. We decided on pizza for dinner and Evie and Halle went to pick it up at Pizza Margarita, a restaurant where Halle works part-time. Jill made a salad to go along with the pizza and we watched Elf, a favorite Christmas film until 9:00, when all but Drew went to bed. We were tired from the drive and getting up early and wanted to be well-rested for Christmas Eve.
