The sun has risen, the sky is partly cloudy, the lake's calm and it's a chilly 56º, a perfect lake morning for us and great sleeping weather as well.

Yesterday was a surprisingly good day for both of us.  After my paddle and breakfast, I was invited by a couple of guys for a cruise down the southern end of the lake and up the Chadokoin River to McRea Point.  I did a few things around the house, watched some Olympics, left about 10:15, dropped a letter off at the post office, and stopped at Lakewood Pharmacy to pick up a few things for Evie.   Evie was happy to see me go because it left her free to mow the yard and work in her garden. 

We cruised the lake for close to two hours, taking our time, avoiding when possible the shallows of the southern end of the lake and weeds.  While we went up the Chadokoin we glimpsed a rare egret, snow-white, along with a  couple of herons and lots of cormorants, either perched in trees or diving into the water.  It was a good way to spend a couple of hours on a sunny afternoon.

I was home by 2:00 and Evie had the yard looking great and she was reading on the front porch.  I heated up a bowl of corn chowder for lunch, watched some TV, read, and took a surprisingly long nap, waking just about 3:30.  We did not do much the rest of the afternoon other than get ready for dinner.  

Ron and Linda picked us up at 6:15 and we drove to downtown Jamestown to have dinner at our favorite pizza place, Pace's Pizza.  They have recently opened an outdoor patio behind their building and we were able to get reservations.  It was lovely sitting outside, nice and cool, surrounded by trees.  We ordered our beers and pizza and were happy, the pizza sizzling, the beers nice and cold. We all ordered different pizzas and like them all as well as the salads with an especially good Italian dressing.  When we left, Linda and Evie even asked if they could buy the dressing but they don't sell it, alas. 

We were home around 8:30, changed into more comfortable clothes and watched a couple of Jeopardy because they have a new champion who seems to be unbeatable at the present time.  He lacks charm but is really well-read and dominates the other game right from the start.  We ended the night with some of the Olympics before going to be.
