6:17 |
It's a warm morning here at Jill's, 67º already, and may even get up to 90º later in the day. I was up at 5:45, not walking on the beach this time, no sunrise, just lots of green from the trees and an overcast sky. As usual, Drew and I are the only ones up.
Thanks For The Fun Week |
Yesterday was an easy drive, with little traffic from Topsail to #95 but then it became busy although we only came to full stops a couple of times so I should not complain. We were excited to get an early start, leaving just after 8:15 until we were 15 minutes from the beach when one of the gals admitted to having left her wallet back at the condo. Jill and Drew volunteered to go back, found the wallet but also the gal's computer, Wow. While they went back, we stopped for breakfast at Mc D's, the girls getting coffee and french fries. After breakfast, we were on our way for five more hours on #95 before getting off at the Warrenton exit, an hour from home via back roads. We found a Chick Fil A, used the restrooms, got our meals by the drive-thru. Fortunately, one of the gals remembered she left her phone in the restroom before we left or we would have had to go back for that as well. Teenagers.
We were home just about 3:00, a seven-hour drive. We were shocked by the heat, 88º, after spending a week at the beach with temperatures in the 70s' with a nice breeze. We had little to bring in other than an overnight bag and spent the next couple of hours relaxing, watching some NBA on TV, and napping. Jill and Drew arrived a half-hour after us so we helped them unpack their car. Drew is leaving tonight for Kazakhstan tonight so he had to drive into Chantilly to get a Covid Test or he would not be allowed into Kazakhstan for work.
When he got back, we sat out on their great screened-in porch, enjoying a glass of wine and Jill ordered a huge platter of sushi for dinner. Halle has just got her temporary so she drove to pick up the sushi with Hayden. The sushi was really good, with lots of choices and we devoured it quickly. We sat around talking about our week until 9:45 when all of us went up to bed, tired from our drive.
