Azure Skies, And Calm Lake

The Four Amigos

7:30
It's a bright, sunny morning at 7:30 as the sun just rose over Wells Bay, filling the lake with its light.  A few clouds hang over the tree line to the south but we have a light blue sky to the north, with occasional jet trails.  It was a chilly 25º when I stepped outside to get the paper but should get up to the 40's later in the day.  It's 9:20 as I finish this blog after an invigorating hour paddle along the shoreline to Tom's Point and back home.  As usual, I was the only one on the lake.

Back To Woodlawn
Friday was overcast and windy much of the day, so windy that we lost power around 8:30 in the morning for a half-hour or so.  It put a crimp into getting my blog done but I was able to publish it just before I left for yoga. Yoga was flow, more rigorous than Yin which was fine.  There were a couple of new students, one who had just been skiing in Vermont the previous day. Because we are driving West for our annual Thanksgiving with our kids in Kansas City and Dallas, we spent much of yesterday getting the house ready for our departure, packing for our trip, making sure we had everything we need for our visit.  Our new camera security system is in place so we will be able to see what wildlife wanders into our area while we are away.

We did miss (haha) going to Home Depot or the Impeachment Hearings which have filled every day the last week.  We organized and packed in a leisurely way, some in the morning, some in the afternoon.  I had a great lunch of the leftover ratatouille and lamb always better after having sat for a day or two in the refrigerator.  The only thing we really wanted to get accomplished was the shearing of my head, making me presentable for our trip.  And younger looking!  Of course, I read some of my book, Olive, Again, and took a short nap and by 3:30, I wanted some fresh air, having been in the house most of the day.  So I took an easy walk of the backwoods and was out for only 25 minutes, just enough to get energized before showering and getting ready to go out to dinner.

Long Point Through The Trees
We picked up our friends, Linda and Ron, at 6:00 and drove to Westfield, for a fish fry at the Bark Grill, a twenty-minute drive.  We had reservations but probably didn't need them because the restaurant was only half full.  We ordered beers and calamari for an appetizer and all four of us had the fish fry, either cod or haddock, and we were happy to be out for the evening.  After dinner, we stopped at their house for an after-dinner drink and stayed until 9:00 when we drove home on almost empty roads.  We had time to watch another episode of The Crown before going up to bed to read and sleep.
