A Full Week In November Begins

7:50

7:51
A strange morning here on the lake as we both were up around 7:00, waiting for that morning cup of coffee.  It's a boring morning sky, mostly gray, a the moment windless, and 39º.  I don't feel much like kayaking so I will sit here for another hour and feel guilty.  Well, guilt got the best of me and I went out for a short paddle. No migrating waterfowl yet, only Canadian geese, mallards, and seagulls remain.  Photos to follow around noon, alas.

Kayaking Among The Reeds
Yesterday for both of us was truly a day of rest.  We did manage to get in a walk around the Chautauqua Institution and missed the rain which was lucky. We walked the entire CI, as the leaves covered much of the walk, the trees bare, the hostas turning gold.  It was good to get outside because we had started the day with the thought of just doing nothing after our busy Saturday.

We were home bu 12:30 and Evie quickly put on the bacon, then fried eggs, and toasted a bagel.  We watched CBS Sunday morning as we enjoyed another great Sunday breakfast, always something to look forward to.

The rest of the day I am ashamed to admit we spent in the TV room, watching whatever, some football, but mostly watching a number of episodes of a building show called Off The Grid, where cabins are built in the most remote of places.  And, unfortunately, we watched the Cleveland Browns play poorly and lose another game they should have won to Denver.  Cleveland fans are in mourning for sure.

Since they were losing, we didn't mind getting dinner ready during the 4th quarter.  Evie made some potato pancakes, a salad, garlic spinach, and roasted salmon with a maple/soy/miso marinade our favorite. We ate then, watching the Browns lose but cutting to Off The Grid during commercials and time outs.  After dinner and the washing of the dishes, we watched another episode of Succession, confirming once again that its a series of 'deplorables'.  And we finished the night with the final episode of The Affair, the fifth season I think.  It's been a rocky series, with ups and downs, but we really liked the last two episodes, a bit sentimental and we wish Joannie had never been brought in but still, we liked it.
