Fog Rising In The 40's

Mike And Scott, Good Friends From Hudson, Ohio

8:03
It's 7:00 and the sun has yet to rise on a cold 48º morning.  The lake is calm, no boats, just fog slowly moving over the lake's surface, a good morning to don a fleece and kayak.  Well, I am just starting this blog again at  9:45 because two buddies from Hudson arrived yesterday afternoon and just left for home.  This has become an annual visit and we used to get together every  Wednesday night when we lived in Hudson.  So no kayaking, no yoga this morning, just visiting with the guys and Evie's big breakfast to send them off.

It was good to get back into my routine yesterday, no doctors appointments, just an open morning.  So I kayaked for forty-five minutes, got a couple of good photographs of heron, then a nice small yoga class with Julie who is back with from a three week trip out West. After class, I stopped for coffee, said aloha the regulars then went shopping at Wegman's since I have not been there in five or six days and we were getting short on staples.  And even though it was Tuesday, I got through the lines quickly.

When I returned home, I heated up the rest of the lentil soup and toasted a bagel for lunch and watched some of the Browns game which I had saved from Monday night.  I took a brief nap and read some until our friends, Scott and Mike, arrived at 3:15.  They both are semi-retired and I have known them for quite a while and also taught their kids at Reserve.  And we are still friends!  Both are good storytellers, especially Mike who is a fine golfer so we had fun catching up on all the news from Hudson as well as how their kids are doing.  We sat on the front porch until Scott and I decided to go for a boat ride; Mike stayed home with Evie, keeping her company and bringing up to date on the office poop because she worked there for ten years before retiring.  It was a perfect afternoon for a ride, blue skies, and lake, so we went as far as the bridge and back along the shoreline. When we returned, Evie brought out some shrimp and cocktail sauce, so we relaxed with a beer or glass of wine before going off to dinner.

Harbor House Hotel, Celeron, NY
I took them first to Celeron so they could see the new Harbor House Hotel, an amazing development on the southern end of the lake in a depressed area.  We toured the hotel, the patios, the dock and they were really impressed.  We then drove along the Celeron road, past the Lucille Ball Park and her controversial statue, The Swamp Bar (we did not stop), to Mc Crea Point, then drove to Third Street, just down from Forte, where we were going for dinner.  We had the window seats reserved so we were quickly seated.  It was a busy night so it was fun to be there.

Dinner At Forte, Jamestown, NY
We ordered drinks, took our time with the menu and Mike and I ordered the Jambalaya, and Scott the Chicken Milanese.  All three meals were great, service fine, so it was a good choice for dinner.  We were home by 9:15 in time for a piece of Evie's homemade peach pie.  We stayed up talking until 10:30 when we all went up to bed, tired from the day.
