It's 8:20 and I have been up less than an hour, having slept in, a result probably of a wild night at the Viking Club's St. Patrick's Day party. Just as I turned on the coffee, the sun started to peak above the eastern horizon on a cloudless sky. I stood outside, taking photographs as it rose, noticing the cold, not realizing the temperature was in the single digits. The branches on all the trees look like chandeliers, their boughs twinkling in the sunlight.

Ice In The Morning |
Yesterday was another show shovelling morning, not that I minded. We had probably another three or four inches Thursday night so it was easy to shovel. I wanted to get some exercise in but got up too late to go to yoga and after shovelling, I was too lazy to get out and walk, preferring to have a leisurely morning with Evie, listening to the monotonous droning on about Stormy Daniels, the potential firing of Andrew Mc Cabe.
Thank goodness March Madness began at 12:30 so I could get away from the news. I had enough of the meatloaf and cheesy broccoli soup so I went to leftover #2, spaghetti, sausage, and mushrooms, leftover from Tuesday night. So it was an afternoon of basketball, reading, and napping until around 3:30 when I decided to go for a walk. The Chautauqua Institution seemed like the best bet, the roads plowed, with a little icing. And I was right although there was some ice on roads. Fortunately, I had good boots and my walking poles. When I got home, Evie had been busy, using her new Food Processor, making up a Middle Eastern garlic paste, with slow roasted garlic and olive oil, called Toum. Late afternoon, she got the urge to make a tomato soup cake, something from her childhood. It actually is like a carrot cake and has cream cheese frosting. We resisted the temptation to try it until we got home from the Viking Club.
So, around 5:30, we drove over to the Viking Club for a corned beef and cabbage dinner and if Evie felt up to it, we would stay for the music. Well, I discovered a panacea for Evie's iffy back, beer, good friends, dinner, music and dancing.

Evie And The Vikings Bartender, Jeff |
We sat at the bar for about 45 minutes, enjoying a beer and talking with people until our good friends, Barb and Dana walked in. We ended up sitting down with them for our corned beef dinner, along with three of their friends, so it was a table for seven. It was fun meeting new people, Susie, who has two sons going to college at the University of Buffalo, all excited about the basketball team, and Jackie and her son Paul, previous owners of the Surf Club in Bemus Point.

What A Crew! |
After dinner, we adjourned to the bar, found a table, and watched people dancing to the DJ Unlimited's music. Everyone was having a good time, many dressed in Irish costumes, and we even got out on the floor a couple of times dancing. We also met up with our good friends, Dawn and Doug, both dressed in all green, with beads and Guinness lit fobs. We went assuming we would be home by 8:00 but didn't get home till after 10:00, party animals on a fun night. And before bed, we had a piece of Evie's tomato soup cake, a delicious way to end our night out.
