A Morning Ritual: Photographing Dawn |

I am sitting here listening to the horrific news from Las Vegas and wondering how a person purchases automatic weapons, why they need it, why it's legal. The morning here, in contrast, is a spectacular light show of sun and fog as Evie and I find ourselves running outside to take another photograph. We are grateful for each day we wake up on the lake.

Yesterday was another beautiful fall day (I never get tired of saying it). We were at sixes and sevens whether to kayak, take a boat ride or walk the Chautauqua Institution. A huge dilemma, right. So we decided on a walk around the Chautauqua Institution in the morning, a boat ride in the afternoon. We left for the CI around 10:30 and had a good hour plus walk around the grounds, ogling the various gardens and front yards, the changing leaves, the brilliant blue sky. It was a good decision and we felt righteous at having gotten in a good three and a half mile walk.
Evie made a Turkish menemen or omelet for breakfast, toasted a couple of bagels and we watched CBS Sunday morning, always interesting and unpredictable. We then spent our afternoon, as usual, Evie on the dock, me joining her briefly after a nap and some reading. It got to be a bit too windy and cool, 62º, so Evie ended up in the side yard. Around 3:30, the wind died down, so we cracked open a couple of beers and took a nice cruise to Bemus Point, along Lakeside Drive and back, a bit cool going, warm and pleasant on the way back.
For dinner, Evie cut up the leftover rotisserie chicken, added mushrooms and a red curry sauce and a can of coconut milk, made a salad and we had dinner. We watched an episode of Black Mirrors, the Emmy winning series but are still not sure about it. It seems like it's just a series of unrelated episodes as far as we got. We then watched Saturday Night Live and This is Us, the first episode of season two. It seemed a bit cheesy but we still liked it. I hope this year measures up to the previous one.
