Saturday Afternoon In Warrenton, Virginia |
|
7:09 AM |
I was up at 6:30, to a wet morning, 63º, although it should clear up later in the day and the temperatures should get up to the 80's, much to our dismay. We are having our niece Jennifer and her family over today which should be fun. They just moved to the area from Texas, quite an adjustment for their family of five. It's 8:00, Drew is up, and we are watching sports center, waiting for the girls to get up. I fear it's going to be awhile.

A Lazy Saturday Morning |
Yesterday morning Evie and I hung out while the family was busy with their typical Saturday. Drew got busy with the yard, cutting the grass, mulching the leaves, then washing the cars. Once he was done, I sat out in the front yard with him and we had a beer because it was already past noon. Jill and Halle left around 11:00, to do some shopping and errands. And Hayden, their teenager, left with a friend for the cross country meet an hour away in Winchester. Because of a torn quad, she is unable to run but went to support the team.

Enjoying The Afternoon At The Wart Hog Brewing Company |
It was a sunny and warm afternoon, so were able to sit on their deck for an hour or two, taking time out to check on football scores. We were meeting Drew's good high school friends, Amy and Steve, at the Wart Hog Brewery in the neat town of Warrenton, about 30 minutes from Bristow via backroads, large horse farms, a couple of southern style mansions along the way. It's a beautiful part of northern Virginia.

Music At Wart Hog |
The Brewery has three levels, music on the street level and we were able to find an outside table on the third floor, overlooking the street. We, of course, tried a couple of their microbrews, ordered pretzels with beer cheese, and enjoyed the afternoon, listening to Drew and his friends' stories from high school. We stayed a couple of hours and decided we would order a couple of pizzas and eat at home as it was beginning to get dark.

Good Friends, Amy And Jill |
We picked up the pizzas and when we got home, both Halle and Hayden were home, Halle from a volleyball clinic, Hayden from the cross country meet. Halle was pumped because she got five spikes in a row. All six of us were hungry and devoured the pizzas, watching the dogs play, as Steve and Amy brought their 8-month-old labradoodle, Luna, over to wrestle with Coco and Daisy.

Hanging Out With Our Granddaughters |
It was a nice night, so Drew and Steve built a fire in Drew's new firepit and we sat outside drinking beer and talking until 10:45 when Steve and Amy went home. We were all tired so we went to bed, not bothering to catch up on the football or baseball scores.
