It's 7:45, the living room is filled with sunlight, Evie's getting her coffee and I have been up for over an hour, rising just before the sun. It was chilly, 43ยบ, when I walked out to get the paper but will get up to the 60's later in the day.

Hiking Long Point |
Yesterday I started the morning with a kayak paddle around 8:15, a good way to start the morning, just me and the ducks on the lake. Evie was up when I got home and after getting organized, taking the trash to the Transfer Station, we decided to go for a hike around Long Point State Park. We were a bit worried about it being too muddy and it was but we persevered. We did meet one couple when we walked out to Long Point but other than that we had the bare woods to ourselves. It's interesting how much deadfall is apparent when there's no greenery to hide it. We took our time, taking photographs of course, even a selfie or two, and ended up walking over three miles, a good start to our morning.

Long Point Selfie |
We did not get back until 1:30 so I was more than ready for lunch, chicken sandwiches and another episode of Wallander. Our afternoon was shortened because we were meeting the McClure's at their house at 5:00, to have another walk through their new house and look at some of the colors and trim they are deciding on. So I had to squeeze a quick nap, some reading, and a shower into a three hour time slot. I even managed to do some raking in our front yard as the heavy winds and waves and pushed some flotsam on our grass. We got to McClures around 5:15, grabbed a beer and walked through their new construction which was fun since the drywall is now up, really giving the home some sense of order. Evie and Linda spent a good amount of time going over paint chips until they decided to go to Sherwin Williams some time this next week. Ron and I just roamed the house, with Ron bemoaning about how much this and that was going to cost. I remember those days. It's always more than we think.

Dinner In Westfield |
We drove to Westfield to have dinner at Brazille's, surprisingly not very crowded for a Saturday night. We enjoy its ambiance but I wish they would change the menu some as it has been the same for three or four years, not that I don't enjoy my meals. I had the short ribs with mashed potatoes for the third or fourth time, a filling, comfort food and the other three had the special, Faroe Island salmon which was also a large portion and perfectly done. We even enjoyed the roasted carrots. We drove home on a moon light filled night, arriving around 9:00, just in time to watch a Real Time with Bill Maher, some junk TV and then to bed, another good day at the lake.
