Another foggy morning and I missed the sunrise, rats, sleeping in like a baby until 7:15. Henry, my brother in law was up, however, in time to see it. Perhaps the smoke alarm going off at 3:30, waking all of us (a false alarm) let me sleep in. Today looks like the fourth or fifth day in a long stretch of sunny, rain free weather. Rain is not forecast until next Thursday.

Kayaking With Henry |
Yesterday was a spectacular morning, sunny, cool, blue skies, a still empty lake. After coffee, when everyone else was getting up, Henry and I went kayaking down to Whitney Bay and back, an easy paddle and fun, looking at all the homes along the bay. When we got hime, it was time for a light breakfast, of bagels and fruit. We were driving off to Bemus, so we got on our hiking shoes and drove over, dropping Claire and Jean off to shop and the rest of us drove to Long Point State Park for a hike through the woods. It was perfect weather for a walk, we met hardly a soul, ended up at the tip of Long Point before starting back to the car. We were gone for just over an hour, drove back to Bemus and picked up Jean and Claire and were home by 12:30.

I then took my weekly trip to the Transfer Station while Evie was getting lunch ready, everybody's favorite, Slovenian sausage from Azman's Meat Market in Euclid and two homemade soups, vegetable and an Indian spiced, cauliflower soup. After lunch, we were all on our own, as everyone seemed to want to do their own thing, sunning on the dock or on the lawn, or just sitting on the porch out of the sun and talking. That's they way we spent our afternoon, doing nothing until we kind of woke up at 5:15 and realized we were going out to dinner at 6:00.

So we quickly got ready, taking showers and getting 'spruced up'. We were able to squeeze into our Honda Pilot and drive to Westfield, NY, to Brazill's, one of our favorite restaurants. The restaurant, despite new owners, still has the same menu and ambiance, so we were happy. Everyone got something different and enjoyed their dinners. I had monk fish wrapped in prosciutto which was quite good and Evie had a flat iron steak. We stayed until around 8:30, then drove to Barcelona, on Lake Erie, to see the sunset but we were too late. We did stop at the beach and take a picture of the pink sky, a sliver like moon before driving back in the dark.

When we got home, the girls played Bananagrams and Henry and I broke our vow and watched some TV, the Weather Channel because he is flying to NYC, then Myanmar for a meeting on Monday. And, we couldn't resist watching a few minutes of college football. We did take time out to watch a very expensive and impressive twenty minute fireworks show from Bemus Point, wondering who was paying for it, before going to bed.
