A Rainy Day In Kansas City, A Dusting Of Snow In Chautauqua

With My Favorite Son
Nick At Half Time
It's 7:20 and I am sitting down in the living room by myself.  Mary was up with Marlena, as she had to be off to school by 6:40, an uncivilized time.  And her lunch hour is at 10:15, to accommodate all the students.  It's 48º outside and wet and may rain off and on most of the day.  Nick, however, is finished with school, so the lucky guy gets to sleep in.  And he graduates tomorrow evening.

A Spring Peony
Yesterday was a beautiful spring day here in Lee's Summit, cool but warm in the sun, a good day for another soccer game.  Before the game, we had a relaxing morning with the family until we all decided to get some exercise. Tom went to the gym, Mary worked out on the elliptical downstairs, and Evie and I took a forty five minute walk through the neighborhood.  It was, as I mentioned, a nice day to be outside, with most of the flowering bushes in bloom, the trees green, the lawns cut and manicured.

Watching Our Grandson Nick's Soccer Game
Around 12:30, all of us drove about twenty five minutes to Nick's soccer game, a club team he has been playing with for the past couple of years.  He and his buddies, many from his high school team, easily won their game 5-2.  I think Nick's going to miss soccer, something he's played for the past ten years when he goes off to college at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville although they must have lots of intramural teams.  We were home by 3:00 and the family then took off to a couple of graduation parties in the neighborhood.  Evie and I stayed home and watched another episode of 30 Degrees in February as well as some basketball until 5:00 when everyone came back tired from partying out.

Hooping It Up
We watched a show Tom wanted us to see, a Netflix series on Chefs, which was interesting, following a great chef from Modena, Italy.  Nick had a bunch of kids over, both guys and gals, and they had fun playing basketball and Frisbee out on the driveway until dark, and them came in and went downstairs to play games in the basement.  Nick has all the video games, plus a ping pong table and a billiards table so it's a fun place.  Around 7:30, Evie heated up some of the leftover pulled pork and we had pork tacos for dinner with all the fixings.  It was just as good if not better than the night before. Around 10:30, we abandoned the kids in the basement and all of us went up to bed, the end of a fun weekend.
