Overcast and Showers Most of the Day

Kayak Afternoon

Awake early, 5:00, up at 6:00, to darkness and the beginning of a gentle rain.  No obvious sunrise this morning, just a slow lessening of darkness to a gray, of lake and sky.  Not a promising day for outside activities, a good day to stay inside, read a book, watch some US Open, or take a nap.

Yesterday, as I mentioned my buddies stayed till about 11:30.  We did go over to The Country Cow diner in Ellery for breakfast, a celebration of kitsch, with walls and shelves covered with cows, Jesus pictures and even an advertisement for a gun raffle.  For some reason, the breakfast was below average... how can you make a bad egg?  Still, it's a fun place to go.  I think Scott and Mike had a good time, as we had great weather, and it's nice for them to get away for twenty four hours.

The rest of the day Evie spent cutting some weeds, as the final week pick up was yesterday.  The lake is looking better, no longer a surface paint of green, and Evie even went swimming.  The rest of the day we relaxed, Evie on the dock, me inside reading, and watching some tennis.  Around 5:00, as it cooled off and began to become overcast, we took a long kayak ride over to Tom's Point and back, as the lake traffic, even the waves, began to heat up. We had a great dinner of left overs from last night, the shrimp asparagus pasta and it even tasted better than yesterday, as did the coconut cake.  We must have been tres hungry.  We watched two more of this seasons Breaking Bad, as Mr. White and Jessie get back into the business.
