Up in time to see the sun rise, an ever enlarging orange globe over Tom's Point, too brilliant at this point to sit in my chair.  A clear sky, light blue, few clouds and 18 degrees point towards a great day, for yoga no doubt but also a walk.  The possibility of snow is forecast for the weekend; not a lot but at least a couple of inches.  I will take what ever I can get.

We walked the CI yesterday, a bit overcast but still a good day to walk, cold enough to know it was winter and to initially freeze our hands but, with time, they warmed up and we enjoyed the walk.  Lots of construction going on as usual for this time of the year and with the temperate weather, it's even pleasant to work outside, roofing or siding a house.  All but one of the gates to the CI are closed this winter because of a rash of robberies.  You are stopped at the gate, asked for a reason to enter, and your name and license are taken.  Not much of a hassle, so we park at the library rather than at the south end.

Around 3:00, we headed into Painesville for an early dinner with our good friend Vi Buck, who lost her husband this fall.  She seems to be doing well enough though it's still very lonely and difficult to get her life and house back in order.  She has had more than her share of tragedies over the past five years and we admire her toughness.  She's a real talker, so we were entertained, talking mostly about the good old days, Ohio University, her grand kids, and Lloyd and teammates from OU.  We ate at a neat restaurant/bar in Painesville called the Red Hawk.  Evie had a great margarita pizza and I had their speciality burger.  We headed home around 7:30 and got home by 9:30, in time to watch some of the Duke/North Carolina game.  I am into a book by British writer David Nicholls called ONE DAY, which I really like. Witty and well written, it follows Em and Dex, two college friends, through their lives as they both attempt to remain 'just friends'  despite their real feelings.  So far, I love it, funny, great dialogue, interesting characters and settings.  I cannot see how it can have a happy ending; they are not the type to age gracefully together as a lovely married couple.
