Anorher Bright Shiny Morning

7:28

8:29

It's 8:30 and I was out on a beautiful lake morning for 50 minutes. I spied one heron, no ospreys or eagles, and lots of Canadian geese.  A couple of bass boats were out, along with my neighbors skiing. We head in to Euclid today for a clambake, a tradition since the 1950s in my family.

Got An Itch?

Friday began with lots of fog until 9:00 and then I paddled for a half an hour. I had breakfast after kayaking and finish up the blog by 10:00 when my neighbor, Jim, came over to help me build a small roof over the air conditioning condenser, to protect it from snow and falling ice. Earlier, we bought the necessary lumber from Home Depot, and Jim had all the tools necessary for our work, including saw horses, saws, and drills. We spent, or rather he spent, close to three hours, sawing, measuring, and screw ing the various poles and roofs together so that by 1:00, I had a neat covering, topped with aluminum roofing to keep it dry. I was basically a gopher because Jim is the handyman and carpenter, with lots of experience. It's nice to have good neighbors. After our job, Evie made us lunch and we had it on the front porch: egg and tomato sandwiches and apple cider. For whatever reason, I was exhausted after lunch, probably from standing around and doing nothing, so I went upstairs and read and napped for a good half hour.

No More Worries

Since it was another stellar afternoon, Evie spent most of it outside moving from one chair to another, depending on the sun and shade. I joined her when she moved to the porch, and we spent the rest of the afternoon and wine time on the porch until 6:30, when we had dinner. Earlier, Evie had roasted cauliflower, made a salad, and heated up the stuffed mushrooms for our dinner. We watched another couple of episodes of All Saints until Evie went up to bed, and I switched channels and watched an episode and a half of Spooks before going to bed. Our routine does not change much.
