It's a quiet, gray Monday morning on the lake, and all is well in the world as the Chiefs won a crazy Sunday Super Bowl Evening. All is well here at the lake, too, with the crows crowing, the birds enjoying breakfast at our feeder, and me, enjoying my coffee as I read mostly about Taylor Swift's attendance at the Super Bowl. There was a game, right. I was able to kayak for just a half hour, as once again, I could only paddle so far south because of the ice.

Sunday was a busy morning, a relaxing afternoon, and a fun evening. The day began as usual with my getting up early, writing the blog, then going off for a decent paddle on the partially frozen lake. The temperature is dropping so no more days in the 50s. Around 10:45, we decided to go for a walk in Bemus, at Long Point State Park, our favorite walk. I decided to go crazy and we reversed our usual hike, starting at the end and finishing at what was usually the beginning, We were out for over forty-five minutes and it was good to be in the woods again. We seemed to be the only one's out walking so we had the park to ourselves.

Dead Fall |
When we got home, Evie made me scrambled eggs and cheese on sliders for breakfast and I watched the beginning of the women's college basketball game between Iowa and Nebraska, mostly because I wanted to see Caitlin Clark play. I watched the first quarter, saved the game, then read and napped some, bored with the game. Around 3:00, I watched the rest of the game, a loss for Iowa but it was fun to see Caitlin play and I realized she is not only a great scorer but also a great passer, unselfish, and smart. The rest of the afternoon we watched some of the lead up to the Super Bowl which had been on all afternoon. How do these guys find things to talk about hour after hour.
Because it was Sunday, we were having dinner at Linda and Ron's', of course, and we got there just in time for the start of the game. Linda had the TV room all set up for viewing and a table spread with various appetizers. We watched the first half, enjoying the food and drinks, although the game was sloppy and a bit boring. At halftime, we had dinner, smash burgers and coleslaw, our second-night having smash burgers and we loved them. The second half was filled with mistakes (a missed point after a touchdown and a punt hitting an SF player's heel)and neither team seemed able to score and the game ended up with a tie. We then had dessert, ice cream with caramel sauce and pecans, and in overtime, in the last five minutes, the Chiefs suddenly came alive and before we knew it, the game was over and they won a third Super Bowl and Taylor Swift was happy, the most important thing of the night. We were all tired by the end, so we said our thank yous for a great night and drove home on empty roads. It was a good day.
