It's 8:16 and surprise, the sun just appeared above the clouds, filling the lake and our living room with its light. It's been a while as we have been getting used to Chautauqua gray. No kayaking for me because my back is still sore but getting better on a 32º morning.
Yesterday was not much of a day for me, just sitting or laying around the house, wishing I could get outside and kayak or walk. I was comfortable sitting and once I stood up and let the tightness in my back assuage, I was able to walk around and do some things. So it was a long morning and afternoon. Fortunately, I have a good book and a heating pad and a wife who takes good care of me, again!
Mulching |
So while Evie was outside, mulching the leaves, and mowing the lawn, I was inside feeling sorry for myself, having cauliflower soup, freshly made, and toasted cheese with Swiss and jelly. I took a brief nap and by 3:00, we had driven off to Lakewood to talk with our healthcare specialist, to discuss various options for next year. We decided to stay with Highmark/BlueCross/BlueShield. We then drove to Wegmans and Evie did some shopping for the weekend and we were home to our beautiful, green yard by 4:00.
We were able to enjoy a long happy hour because we were having the leftover chili, Cincinnati style, with spaghetti noodles, cheese, and sour cream. We started a new series on Netflix, All The Light We Cannot See, based on the novel by Anthony Doerr. And we watched the usual, Bargain Block, ER, and ended the night with five minutes of the NFL.
