It's another bright, shiny morning at the lake, and I move from one chair to another to avoid the blinding sun. I am not complaining as I usually wake to Chautauqua gray much of the winter. It's a chilly 27º but will get up into the 40s later in the day, perhaps 60) by Wednesday. It's 8:53 and the tree guys have just driven up, ready to cut down our willow, a difficult job because of the electrical, cable, and phone wires.

Ready To Take Down Our Willow |
What else do red-blooded Americans do on Super Bowl Sunday other than watch TV? We were no exception although our serious viewing started in the afternoon. The morning was our typical Sunday, with a leisurely morning of a couple of cups of coffee, the blog, and breakfast since I did not have yoga. Evie seared a chuck roast and put it in a slow cooker along with some veggies. By 11:00, however, we were on our way to the Chautauqua Institution for a walk on a sunny and chilly morning. We loved it however as it was a perfect morning to walk the CI. We stopped at Tops afterward and picked up a few things for our dinner.
We had our usual big breakfast of home fries, bacon, and eggs and watched CBS Sunday morning. By 2:00, we were locked into the Pre-Game Show on Fox and watched that on and off during the rest of the afternoon with breaks for a nap, finishing my Disma Hardy novel, and watching something other than football pundits picking the Eagles. The pot roast dinner was ready just about the time the game began so we were happily ensconced on our new sectional, watching a terrible first half as the Chiefs just didn't seem to have any mojo and things looked bad when Mahomes sprained his angle.
Rihanna's halftime show was less than inspiring although the dancers and pyrotechnics were cool. And the second half seemed the opposite of the first, with the Chiefs dominating, and the Eagles playing poorly. I wish the Chiefs had not won because of a questionable holding call but they still would have kicked a field goal to go ahead. The Eagles, however, would have had a minute or so to try to tie it. My son and daughter's families were happy because they are all avid Chiefs fans. Here in Jamestown, however, fans were sad because the Eagle's head coach, Nick Siriani, and his family grew up in Jamestown.
