Well, it's 8:20, I've kayaked for 35 minutes and have been sitting here enjoying my coffee with Evie and our old friends, Ron and Victoria. It's cool enough to wear a fleece this morning and will stay in the 60s most of the day.

Kayak Morning |
Yesterday was organized around our drive to the airport to pick up our friends, Ron and Vicky, friends from our teaching at Reserve but now residents of Thompson Lake, in Oxford, Maine. So after the usual, kayaking, blog, and breakfast, we drove to the Buffalo Airport. Fortunately, their flight was only forty-five minutes late, pretty damn good timing these days. They had to be up by 4:30, to get their flight out of Portland at 5:55 so they were a bit tired.

Big Ron |
We were home by 2:00, hungry of course, but Evie had lunch ready. All she had to do was heat up the leek, artichoke, and potato soup with tomato, bread, and herb topping. With corn fritters, we had a delicious lunch. We then went for a short walk around the neighborhood before three of us took great naps, getting up refreshed by 5:00. We sat on the front porch, enjoying the afternoon as it cooled, with a glass of wine and some spicy cashews.

Ziti Dinner |
Dinner was made, fortunately, so all Evie had to do was heat up the baked ziti and make a salad. We loved the ziti but we were wondering about the salad until Evie realized that instead of the salad dressing she had made, she used the marinade for Saturday night's steak. To say it was an unusual salad, would be an understatement but it wasn't bad, just different and we all got a big laugh out of it. During dinner, we got on the topic of nuclear reactors, then Chernobyl so we ended the night watching a couple of episodes of the Chernobyl series on HBO which we had watched and loved, Two episodes were enough for the night and we were all tired and in bed by 10:30.
